The first publication of our Diffusion Foundations (DF) periodical dates back to 2014, and since then 29 complete volumes were produced to cover the fundamental aspects of mass transport and heat transport in solids, liquids and gases being the topic of high importance for engineering. Over the years the science and the world have evolved and created nuances to the disciplines that are dealt with. The requirement for highlighting applications of these phenomena is continuously growing in the market. So, keeping up with the times, TTP has adapted the DF’s scope of publications and changed its name to mark the developments and evolution of the journal.

The Diffusion Foundations and Materials Application (DFMA), having succeeded the DF, will now contain the extended papers and reviews that cover both the fundamental and applied aspects of mass and heat transport in solids, liquids and gases.

We believe that our updated DFMA will bring more value to the academic community by providing in-depth knowledge in this field of science from an advanced and broader perspective.

The editorial board of DFMA invites guest editors to prepare thematical publications.

Trans Tech Publications Ltd. (TTP) is continuously making strong efforts aimed at development and facilitation of its Author processes with the help of new and up to date editorial boards.
We are continuously improving our services to a new level and pay great attention to the quality of our online platform www.scientific.net by enhancing its usability, reliability and scalability.

What’s new apart from new content?

Our users can take the advantage of the following useful benefits:

  • improved linking;
  • remote access availability;
  • availability for single article purchasing through document delivery organisations;
  • wider access at consortia.

On top of that, we are proud to announce that SCOPUS RANKING of TTP journals is going up.

A number of TTP periodicals are indexed in SCOPUS and prove to be the recognized source of innovative research, profound knowledge and excellent expertise in the fields of material science and engineering.

Over the last five years, significant increases have been realised in the CiteScore rank of 40-60% for journals such as Key Engineering Materials (KEM), Materials Science Forum (MSF), Solid State Phenomena (SSP) and CiteScore rank increase of up to 370% for such journals as Journal of Nano Research (JNanoR), Defect and Diffusion Forum (DDF), Journal of Biomimetics, Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (JBBBE) and International Journal of Engineering Research in Africa (IJERA). This is in line with the pace of the journals’ positive development in terms of usage and demand.

Papers published and available on www.scientific.net become more read and cited all over the world and ensures them to stand out from thousands of other academic publications in similar fields.

July 16th marks the date of yet another new milestone in facilitating easy access to www.scientific.net

In its ambition to make access as easy as possible for students, faculty staff and other interested visitors TTP has joined eduGAIN.

This will provide easy access for them with a simple way to log into to over a million articles using their home organisation's username and password.

Federated identity services play an increasingly critical role in facilitating access to big science projects. And so our commitment to and participation in these initiatives will allow scientists to further collaborate in international research.

eduGAIN helps nearly 27 Million students, researchers and educators access online services while minimising the number of accounts the users have to manage – reducing costs, complexity and security risks. Institutions are enabled to easily and scalably support access to services globally – allowing control over user management.

eduGAIN comprises over 60 participant federations connecting more than 5,000 Identity and Service Providers.

Benefits:

  • The 'virtualized' ID, enables resources to save the effort of registering and administering users based on paperwork.
  • Standardized interfaces enable resources to integrate users of other organizations without much effort.
  • A standardized authentication mechanism assures users a granted access to various resources of organizations with a single password, irrespective of location.

Additionally, Scientific.NET support the Federations: OpenAthens, UK Access Management, InCommon, SWAMID, SWITCHaai and DFN-AAI Federation

How To: Sign On to Scientific.NET remotely

  • Log in or get new "Access through your institution".
  • You need to enter your login data from your institution which enables you to have access to the subscribed material on Scientific.NET.

OpenAthens is an identity and access management service supplied by Jisc, a British not-for-profit information technology services company. Identity provider (IdP) organisations can keep usernames in the cloud, locally, or both.

With over 25 years of experience, OpenAthens is the leading expert in federated single sign-on services worldwide.

OpenAthens is authentication and electronic access management system that provides access to the library's licensed online resources via single sign-on (SSO) technology both on and off-campus.

With OpenAthens, our service can authenticate users from 2,600 OpenAthens members and expand access to more than 4 million users worldwide in the academic, government, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and corporate markets.

With OpenAthens, Scientific.NET can support Identity Providers like SWITCH, InCommon, Edugate, CARSI, Belnet, and others.

Trans Tech has signed the agreement with ProQuest to participate in the Alma Community with their MARC records. TTP finds it important to stimulate the managing and maintaining of online authorization vocabularies, which ensure secure and streamlined cataloguing workflows.

One of Alma’s greatest assets is its user community. As such, Ex Libris has been working to create more options to allow users to play an active role and collaborate in the Community Zone. An important feature is a framework for contributing to the Community Zone.

This term simply means that the user can add data to this Zone with the purpose of sharing it with the greater Alma community.

The Zone offers users the opportunity to update bibliographic records, add portfolios to collections of the type Free E-Journals, Miscellaneous E‐Journals, Miscellaneous Free E‐Books, and U.S. Government Documents, contribute collections, and contribute General Electronic Services.

Sharing, discussing and working together on bibliographical data and enriching them will increase the quality of the bibliographical records. This input is very valuable to Alma, the publisher and the library community.

TTP signed multi-year READ & PUBLISH Agreement with the Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands

TTP is proud to announce it has signed a multiyear Read & Publish agreement with the Technical University of Delft in The Netherlands. The TU Delft is a top education and research university and the oldest and largest of its kind in The Netherlands. Its eight faculties offer 16 bachelor’s and more than 30 master’s programs for and with a community of more than 25,000 students and 6000 employees.

The agreement combines access to all the journal content on www.scientific.net with discounted Article Processing Charges (APC’s), and Green OA for all Articles contributed by TU Delft Authors. This multi-year agreement also introduces price protection for the licensing of the READ part of the agreement.

With this agreement, TTP takes the next step with its READ & PUBLISH development program. Earlier this year The SWISS Library Consortium signed a similar agreement And last year already some other universities joined the program.

And as a result of these major technical universities signing up, TTP has developed (Following the ESAC guidelines), its own robust back and front office software allowing institutes to assess their authors’ contributions/papers eligibilities for OA and its funding.

TTP was founded in 1967 in Switzerland, Trans Tech Publications Ltd. keeps up to date with and endorses the latest trends in academic publishing.
