Proven Value: This 4th edition has a very high number of citations and has proven its place in the international market of Materials Science and Engineering which raises high expectations of the 5th edition.
Why the 5th edition: As of the date of the 4th edition, there have been numerous crucial advances to the modelling and the basic understanding of solidification phenomena with its linking to experimental results and therefore this fully revised edition gives a modern and up-to-date treatment of solidification with clear language, is well-structured and presents the information at three levels:
- an initial feel for the subject is obtained by consulting the figures and their detailed captions;
- a deeper understanding of the underlying physics is found by working through the main text;
- 15 appendices offer a detailed analysis of the various theories by providing detailed derivations of the relevant equations.
PARTICULARLY NOVEL is chapter 8 on microstructure-selection which explains how to combine the concepts of the preceding chapters to model the real microstructures formed during complex processes such as additive manufacturing and the new detailed phase-field appendix which opens the door to the accurate computer-modelling of growth-forms.

This year, Trans Tech Publications is again attending the Frankfurter Buchmesse (Bookfair) that will take place in October (19th-23rd).
Please contact us for an appointment: office@scientific.net.
At this leading venue for publishers and their partners, we will be happy to meet with our customers face-to-face after two years of virtual online meetings. We hope to personally discuss our cooperation and all other important issues for successful development with you.
We will be at 4.2 H13 stand.Trans Tech Publications is glad to announce that we offer our clients the possibility of subscribing to the complete list of all our 15 journals not only for the current year but also to the journals’ archives that are available for single journal titles as well as for multiple titles.
Learning past research and introduction to the scientific collections accumulated for more than half a century will bridge a gap between the early discoveries and the latest innovations in Materials Science and Engineering and will help the researchers enrich their knowledge and understand the pace and progress in the related fields of science. This argument is supported by the fact that Trans Tech Publications recently closed some significant archival deals in the USA.
In some cases, our archival collections go back to the foundation of TTP in 1967, covering 55 years of scientific information on Engineering and Materials Sciences topics.
For those interested in access to all of the YEARS published in one or more journal titles, please ask for customized pricing if you have been a subscriber for multiple YEARS, or look in the pricing list under OPTION 3 for the official price list.
In addition, starting from July 2023, we have introduced a new ARCHIVAL collection: OPTION 4. Whereas Option 3 covers the full spectrum of a specific journal (or the full journal list) from volume 1 onwards, Option 4 covers only the last 10 years comprising the latest journal issues and thus being cheaper than the full archive. Option 4 is however only available for a selection of 6 journals. Option 4 offers the possibility to gradually complete the full archive of one or more periodicals.
If customers are interested in older YEARS, then a custom quote is possible for a different “decade” set of YEARS.
For all questions regarding archival purchase and or current year subscription, please contact us at subscriptions@scientific.net.For authors/contributors of an academic article, the impact of what they report is very important. At the same time, users/readers of academic articles also want to know which articles are crucial for their research. In the huge volumes of published articles, some “filtering” can be quite useful and efficient.
Next to the number of citations of an article, its impact can also be measured by looking at the total downloads and views. These complimentary parameters are very important as well.
The number of downloads and views indicate a thorough interest in the market. More downloads mean more usage and possibly citations, and consequently value.
On a regular basis TTP is looking at these numbers and we would like to share the Top-20 most downloaded articles.
The 20 most viewed/downloaded articles from www.scientific.net with the linkable title of the paper and the name of the journal are listed below. This will be helpful in your own research.
