Abstract: In Asia, contemporary Japanese architecture owns bright national characters, and meanwhile is geared to international standards. As an embodiment of nationalism, national characters have a direct influence on the creative thinking of architecture. Japanese people owns the double character of enlargement and reduction, as well as opening and closure, and the insularity character of delicacy and love of nature, thus contemporary Japanese architects own the nature of combining the “big” and the “small” as well as opening and closure, and the architecture form, aspiring after the creative thinking of harmonious coexistence with the nature, is delicate and subtle.

Abstract: Traditional architecture is the built embodiment of a people’s cultural identity and values, and is often referenced as primary source of inspiration and standard of quality for the creation of new architectural approaches aspiring to be national. This paper is an attempt to pinpoint the essential traits that make our traditional houses specifically Romanian, and which could be employed in contemporary space-making in order to express this cultural identity.

Abstract: Starting with the indisposed wind environment arisen from the development of urban construction,this paper analyses its influence to the mural and public environment of buildings.Results show that wind environment building design makes architectural design method more rational and sophisticated,and approaches the topic from the angles of general layout and building forms,and sevaral methods such as wind tunnel modeling testcan and computer numerical simulation are also presented.

Abstract: The technical methods of master planning compilation can be divided into “pure technical” ones and “social technical” ones. “Pure technical” methods are complementary while “social technical” methods are increasingly important. The relationship between two kinds of methods shall be changed from parallel and independent to leading and being led, including and being included in order to finally establish a system dominated by “social-technical” methods. The values shall be rooted in the technical methods and the “emotional” shall be applied in the compilation of public policies on urban planning; “pure technical” methods shall aim to provide a technical platform for the planners, the government and the public.

Abstract: The paper tries to use the idea of architecture typology basing on the theory of prototype to analyze the “Russian architecture prototype” wildly distributed in Harbin, which is representative by “Russian building”, and discuss the “Russian architecture prototype” in the role of shaping the form of contemporary architecture in Harbin. We wish to summarize the former experience and provide reference for architectural creation in Harbin in the future.

Abstract: The symbolic meaning of the city shape is recognizable in the complexity of its architectures. The paper discussed the architectural differences between orient and west. Furthermore, Feng-shui was deeply discussed to identify that the beauty in architecture shows a variety of styles in both orient and west. The following conclusions are drawn: an approach that strengthens the relationship among people, social organization, and architecture objects, it needs to aim at the safeguard of environment as limited resource. This process can derive only from comparison and exchange among different cultures.

Abstract: This paper attempts to put forward new ideas for the design of residential building in severe cold region by discussing the different life style in Harbin, finds a suitable design method and scheme for the residential building design in the cold area. The residents in the cold region have a unique life style because of the unique features of climate. So when they design the buildings, the designers and architects should take into consideration of the local people’s way of life, and create the unique buildings suitable for the cold area.
