Abstract: Most Chinese cities are experiencing rapid urbanization and economic growth. It is needed to explore how a city’s energy system evolves and how it can be altered to reduce carbon emissions. This paper analyzed energy consumption and related CO2 emissions in Beijing and Shanghai. A rapid growth in energy consumption during the last two decades is evident. Shanghai presents higher energy intensity than Beijing, mainly due to the larger share of the secondary industry in economy. Energy consumption by the residential sector is higher in Beijing, despite a larger population in Shanghai. The CO2 emissions by the end-use energy in 2010 are 152 and 259 million ton in Beijing and Shanghai, respectively. Electricity usage presents an important share of energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Thus, development of renewable energy for electricity generation and improvement of the technologies in thermal power plants are important to reduce the future carbon emissions.

Abstract: Based on GTAP-E model, a recursive dynamic method is adopted to analyze emission reduction and economic impact of carbon tariffs levied by US on China’s economy and the effects on carbon emission. The results show that China's macroeconomic would suffer a lot. The export of sectors with high embodied carbon emission would decrease significantly. While for sectors with low embodied carbon emission although some of them have high dependence on US, the negative impact on their export would be lower due to trade diversion to other regions. While the implementation of carbon tariffs could reduce global carbon emissions, the effects are quite limited.

Abstract: Inner Mongolia has rich energy resources, and how to realize low carbon scientific development is a very important issue for the autonomous region to realize great-leap-forward development. This article analyzed the factors which have been influencing the Inner Mongolia’s carbon emission from 2001 to 2010 by using the LMDI model, revealed the coal-dominated energy structure and the fast-growing economy are the main reasons that influence Inner Mongolia carbon emissions. The research results show that economic growth and carbon emissions have a close relationship, and the author gives some policy suggestions depend on the results.

Abstract: In order to increase the ability of tackling with climate change, China has put many efforts on restructuring industrial sectors, improving energy efficiency and developing new and renewable energy resources. This study provides a critical assessment of various factors on reducing CO2 emissions with the method of scenario analysis. The results show industrial restructuring has marginal effect on CO2 emissions compared with improving energy efficiency and adjusting energy structure. To achieve the projected target on CO2 emissions reduction, a combination of optimized industrial structure and energy structure as well as improved energy efficiency is the proper scenario for China. The findings provide a useful reference for policy-makers to develop energy policies.

Abstract: This paper takes the Suzhou City, Anhui Province as a example, the 2004-2009 agricultural carbon emissions were estimated based on six major aspects of the carbon source of agriculture production. The result shows that Suzhou's carbon emission is on the rising trend since 2004. Suzhou's agricultural carbon emissions and intensity's average annual growth rate were 3.68% and 3.49% respectively.Factors decomposition research has been approached based on Kaya equation, and the result indicates that efficiency factor, structural factor and labor scale factor restrict the growth of carbon emission, and it already realized carbon emission reduction during 2004 to 2009. Agricultural economy development has added more carbon emissions.

Abstract: The rapid development of the transportation industry in Shandong Province provides a fundamental guarantee for the economic and social development, but also brings a lot of energy consumption and pollutant emissions, directly affecting the construction of ecological Shandong. By investigating low-carbon development of the transportation industry in Shandong Province, this article analyzes the status of low-carbon development and identifies the problems: transportation structure is irrational; low-carbon development lacks corporate body; regulation of transportation energy saving needs to be strengthened. Put forward countermeasures for low-carbon development of the transportation in Shandong Province: speed up the construction of the integrated transport system; optimize transport organization; improve regulation of transportation energy; give full play to the leading role of science and technology to a low-carbon economy; strengthen low-carbon economic subject consciousness of transportation enterprises; develop public low carbon transport consciousness.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the industrial structure of Zhenjiang city with multiple perspectives in Jiangsu province in China, such as: input structure, output structure and their contributions to GDP. The study focuses on the industrial structures themselves and the relations among them with the drawing of industrial economics theory, regional economics and priority economic growth theory. The shifting mode about Zhenjiang's industrial structures during the 10th Five-Year and the 11th Five-Year plans are presented in detail and in depth in this paper. The contribution to economic growth caused by upgrading of industrial structures in low-carbon emission economic model is analyzed. Finally, it is proposed an economic model system based on the transformation and upgrading of industrial structures.

Abstract: Based on the principles of scientific, systematic, practicality, hierarchy, the paper constructs the evaluation index system of the Possibility of Low-carbon Economic Development, and determines the assessment of evaluation indexes applying the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and builds the multi-objective linear weighted evaluation function model. Taking the Province of Zhejiang for example, the Possibility of Low-carbon Economic Development was evaluated. The results can be summarized as follows: The construction the evaluation index system of the Possibility of Low-carbon Economic Development is scientific and has a certain operability; The development of low-carbon economy in Zhejiang Province is potential, and the comprehensive evaluation has 4 levels; From certain aspects, such as the establishment and improvement of the low-carbon economy policy system, management system for carbon emissions and carbon exchanges, the introduction of foreign advanced low-carbon technologies, the promotion of low-carbon consumption and low-carbon lifestyle, measures can be taken to promote the development of a low- carbon economy in Zhejiang Province.

Abstract: In low carbon economy, carbon emissions permit has become a kind of resource; in the market economy system, new economic relations between enterprises have appeared, these characteristics make enterprise operation cost structure and profiting pattern changed. The paper reviews the previous literature on carbon footprint, production optimization theory individual enterprise and supply chain operation management with carbon emissions constraints. Then the paper put forward four worth further research directions: Carbon emission cost distribution and scientific measurement in supply chain; supply chain operation based on consumer behavior in Low Carbon Economy Era; optimizing the allocation of carbon emissions permit in supply chain; Dynamic Multi-period operation optimization of carbon efficient supply chain.
