Abstract: Negative impacts of the economic crisis on the economy of companies did not avoid Slovak mining industry. Due to the detecting and quantifying of main factors and affecting financial performance of the company after negative impact of the economic crisis, a financial analysis of specific conditions in mining firm, producing crushed stone, has been carried out. Results of analysis determined negative development of financial and executive business situation of the firm in the future. Consequently there were proposed recommendations with possible costs cut down with aim to achieve savings and improve indicators of business activity. According to the current need to improve financial stability of the firm, a way of financial management in the future has been designed, which should contribute to objectification, acceleration and simplification of the decision process.

Abstract: Pursuant to the statistics data of Eurostat, the economy of European Union is slowly recovering from year lasting recession. The gross domestic product volume increased in 2nd quarter of the year 2013 by 0.3%. The industrial companies in EU are nevertheless facing still increasing competitiveness as the European and global markets are developing under current business conditions. To be successful within the frame of current supply chains the companies must have well-developed logistics management systems to effectively treat with flows streaming in their inner or outer supply chains. One of the main elements of company logistics management systems is inventory management subsystem to plan, to manage and to control particular stock items. In the paper it is briefly described the methodics to design effective inventory management system whether in industrial or service company.

Abstract: In mathematical models, for forecasting prices on commodity exchanges different mathematical methods are used. In the paper the numerical model based on the exponential approximation of commodity stock exchanges was derived. The price prognoses of aluminium on the London Metal Exchange were determined as numerical solution of the Cauchy initial problem for the 1st order ordinary differential equation. To make the numerical model more accurate the idea of the modification of the initial condition value by the stock exchange was realized. The derived numerical model was observed to determine the influence of the decreased size of the limiting value error causing the modification of the initial condition value by the chosen stock exchange on the accuracy of the obtained prognoses. The advantage of the chosen sizes of the limiting value error 7 % and 8 % within different movements of aluminium prices was studied.

Abstract: In presented contribution there were solved problems of purchasing process as a core task of every production company focusing on the evaluation and selection of suppliers. This issue was investigated in the manufacturing businesses operating in the metallurgical industry. Thorough analysis of the current status of the evaluation and selection of suppliers for the company were reached conclusions that were determinants of changes in those activities. When reviewing the evaluation and selection of activities was used principal components analysis and scoring model. With them were found the pros and cons of the current model, as well as direct interaction between the evaluation criteria. The aim of this was therefore propose model evaluation and selection of suppliers with an emphasis on improving the efficiency of operations in a buying context of business.

Abstract: Industrial and commercial risks associated with the production, supply and commercialization of products and services provided by enterprise have effect not only on the enterprise run and its profitability, but in the extreme cause also on the viability and by that on the future of entire enterprise. Risk conditions create an assumption of enterprise crises which must be prevented.

Abstract: Floods are among the most frequent and costly natural disasters in terms of human and economic loss. Flood salvage operations concentrate on rescuing the civilian population, which must take into account many variables. In view of practice difficult planning related with the rescue work is also important logistical support. GIS systems offer a wide range of tools for data analysis and preparation of various scenarios and thus significantly helping in planning and decision-making.

Abstract: For effective logistics planning at the time of the flood situation, it is necessary to have good quality data base. Most of these data is now in digital form. These include location data generated in terms the INSPIRE directive, adopted the EU to harmonize data help provide a interoperability. Harmonized data can be efficiently processed in geographic information systems and the results obtained can be used in decision-making. Geographic information systems are also used for modelling of flood wave and simulation of flooding extent. The principles of logistics planning and crisis management in GIS are used in the preparation of crisis scenarios. Planning a rescue operations and the whole logistical support can be effectively carried out only on the basis of quality input digital data harmonized under INSPIRE directive.

Abstract: The article deals with a system design of manual order picking of goods in small trade-distribution company in which the volume of picking and transported goods is important instead of its total weight. The main part of the paper is to select the correct type and number of passive means of transport (paper or plastic boxes, crates, etc.) for small and lightweight goods and to determine the exact order and sequence of storage-packaging goods in accordance with pre-established terms and conditions. At the end, this proposed system is applied on an example.

Abstract: Increasing requirements in the field of quality and management standards are the reason why knowledge management is regarded as an upcoming need for the metal processing industry. To fully benefit from the organisational achievements which are knowledge resources, and to meet the expectations of customers, one should think about functional, but also modern, computer system that allows the integration of heterogeneous sources of knowledge. The article describes practical aspects of the codification of metallurgical knowledge for the needs of a system of knowledge integration operating in industrial plants. The article propose successive steps to create objects of knowledge and requirements imposed onto the knowledge engineers. The presented methodology is consistent with the standards of knowledge management in the field of codification, and is based on the latest achievements of information science in the field of formal representation of knowledge.

Abstract: The global crisis has resulted in a strong need to change the enterprise philosophy. It is observed the importance of a well-thought strategy as a key prerequisite for contemporary enterprise business success. It should include a very good idea which helps to gain a competitive advantage in the market in the future, and also it has to be implemented very quickly. Therefore, efficiency control plays a significant role in industry enterprises. In this paper the new method of efficiency control dedicated for industrial enterprises which have make-to-order manufacturing (MTO) is presented. MTO companies produce bespoke and customized products to particular customer specifications but not repeated on a regular basis. The main goal of this paper is to connect the strategy implementation process with the production order acceptance process, which can increase the efficiency of strategy realization in make-to-order manufacturing.
