Abstract: The rapid development of China’s economics makes it urgent to widen the existing highways especially those located in the south-eastern coastal areas over thick soft soils. Adding a new embankment adjacent to the existing highway embankment is a cost effective choice compared with the traditional methods to build another new one and can reduce the heavy traffic pressure. However, it may also cause some engineering problems including the excessive settlements settlements, road cracks, excessive tensile stresses on the pavement even local or global instability of embankments. So some proper measures should be taken to solve the problems caused by widening is of great importance in engineering practice. A numerical analysis was performed to investigate the effect of different kinds of soft soil treatments including rigid piles, stone columns and prefabricated vertical drains (PVDs) usually used in highway widening projects located in the thick soft soils. It was found that the rigid piles can effectively reduce the additional settlements of the existing embankment induced by widening as well as the settlements of the widened embankment. While the stone columns and PVDs play little role in controlling the additional settlements caused by widening.

Abstract: Currently urban planning teaching have some Phenomenon, including differentiation of knowledge structure system, closed of knowledge transfer process, institutional barriers of innovation evaluation, and so on. The principal contraction lies in defection of basic scientific question. According to basic facts of national urban and rural construction and human settlement theory, it is necessary for urban planning study to construct the scientific issue of the settlement process. Teaching reform will achieved from three aspects, including the curriculum module system extension, knowledge transfer process optimization and teaching evaluation system perfection.

Abstract: The basic principle of coordination between overall urban planning and land utilization planning includes four factors, scientific development, regional development, environmental Protection and farmland Protection. Coordination countermeasures of overall urban planning and land utilization planning is put forward in two aspects, planning legal system and management system. Formulating Regional Planning Law and Emphasizing the Legal Status of Regional Planning are good measures in planning legal system. Reinforcing communication and cooperation between each department and establishing planning committee is a good approach in solving the current coordination of the two planning.

Abstract: The fire risks of spreading trends and spreading processes of Underground Commercial Street were digitalized in this work combining with the analog of the ‘infection propagation’ model, and a dynamic fire risk model was established with the consideration of fire risk flow. This investigation will provide effective data support for the initial planning, designing and fire prevention in various stages of Underground Commercial Street.

Abstract: To improve the Pavement Damage Ratio Model of Mississippi State for predicting pavement condition effectively, the conversion factors of this model should be modified. In this paper, based on the Bayesian Method, verification and analysis of the conversion factors for the original DR Model are presented. The modified conversion factors turn out to match better with the actual situation nowadays and predict the pavement condition with higher accuracy. The results of this paper show that the original model deviates a lot from the expert evaluation, and after the modification, the deviation is reduced. The modification procedure can be continued in use of the Bayesian Method.

Abstract: Many damages of bridge are caused by scour. This paper tries to find out the relationship between the changes of dynamic properties of bridges and scour. The influence of scour on the Mississippi State Highway 33 Bridge is analyzed considering 2 factors, the scour depth and the water level. A Finite Element model is used to simulate the vibration of the bridge under scour. The results reveal the effects of scour on the dynamic properties of the bridge.

Abstract: Reinforced concrete eccentric frame - shear wall structures has been widely used in Engineering, but this structure is mostly used for high-rise structure. Depending on experimental study will be unable to accurately draw the seismic reflection of structure, it needs to use the simulation software to study the seismic performance of high-rise structure. In this paper, by using ANSYS finite element analysis software to establish the numerical model which is based on the test model to carry out the seismic performance simulation. Then, through the improvement measures to get the measures for improved seismic performance.

Abstract: This study examined the architectural complex of hotel and apartment through describing its status quo and development as well as summarizing its characteristics and uniqueness. The case of Shanxi Dingchen Apartment for example to explor design patterns Apartment. The design of service apartment was analyzed in detail. With comprehensive consideration of the market reality the architectural key points and the issues for further development were explored and discussed.

Abstract: A reinforced concrete frame model was designed by PKPM software and then a push-over analysis is performed in this paper. Values of plastic hinges were calculated by Section Builder software, which based on constitutive relations of material and the section forms, then the data was written into corresponding components in the model to carry out push-over analysis. The plastic hinges first appeared at the ends of beams in the first story ,spread to the second story and the ends of columns in the first story. At last plastic hinges spread to the top story. The story drift and interstory displacement rotation of the model in different cases tended to decrease as structural height increase. It can be demonstrated that failure mechanism satisfies the design requirements of strong column weak beam.
