The Study on Antioxidative Activity of Concentrated Hawthorn Juice Against UV Damage in Drosophila Melanogaster

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper was to investigate the antioxidative effects of concentrated hawthorn juice against ultraviolet damage in fruit flies. Flies survival experiment and biochemical index determination method results show that UV could remarkably accelerate the senescence of fruit flies, compared with the model group. With the feeding of concentrated hawthorn juice, vivo antioxidant enzyme activity and lipid peroxide generated by MDA content decreased, and the lifespan dramaticlly extended. The study suggest that the concentrated hawthorn juice exhibited antioxidative activity in fruit flies against UV damage and might be used as functional food industrials for healthcare purpose.
