Abstract: This study investigated the effects of ceramsite mulching on soil water content and temperature in the central isolation belt of an expressway in Hebei province, China. Ceramsite mulching effectively improved the soil water content, and reduced the disparity between different soil layers in different months. The order of soil water content at different soil depths or in different months was: two layers of mulching (M2) > one layer of mulching (M1) > bare soil (MD). The effect of ceramsite mulching on soil water content decreased with soil depth. The effect of ceramsite mulching on soil temperature decreased with soil depth from 0cm to 15cm. ceramsite mulching had a cooling effect above 5cm,but had a heating effect at 15cm.M2 balanced soil temperature better than M1.

Abstract: It applies hydrodynamic Model-SELF-E to complete simulation system of 3D current-salinity in Yangtze River, The paper introduces S-Z coordinates in Vertical Hybrid Coordinates, and compares the computational results with measured data, showing that the salinity of north branch has always been higher than that of south branch, and the salinity change rates are also more than its of south branch.

Abstract: By the field investigation on BaYinTaohai of WuHai,this article found that ,although this town locates in the northwest arid areas with little rain and big evaporation, the groundwater is abundant. Many artesian wells and springs are founded in this place. Through the analysis of the isotope characteristics of the groundwater in the study area, It is concluded that the shallow groundwater of south Wuhai recharge from local precipitation, while deep confined water recharge from allogenic water with isotope dilution.

Abstract: The vertical distribution of the reservoir water temperature depends on the scale of the reservoir, regulation manners, as well as the hydrological and geological conditions near reservoir areas. Based on water temperature observation from three different regulation reservoirs, this paper analyses the vertical distribution of these reservoirs water temperature. The preliminary conclusions are: for multi-annual regulation reservoirs, the upper zones usually have stable temperature stratification structures, while the lower zones have constant low temperature; for annual regulation reservoirs, water temperature distribution changes with depth; for the daily regulation reservoirs with low water depths present mixed vertical distributions of water temperature.

Abstract: Thermal springs can be utilized as an environmental friendly source of renewable energy, as well as for other purposes. Time domain electromagnetic (TDEM) method is used as an accessory tool in geothermal exploration to investigate the local heterogeneities in geology. The study consists of two of the thermal springs in Sri Lanka, Wahawa and Mahaoya, both in the same crustal unit. Major structural discontinuities of the area vary between two peculiar fracture sets striking ENE and NW. Close relationships between these individual springs have been witnessed by their approximate major cation chemistries, which provoke the idea of geochemical provinces. Survey reveals the pathways of the heated water to the surface, at Wahawa, although the path is not clear at Mahaoya. Near surface resistivity diagrams can be used only to interpret the immediate depths of the springs. The expected structural relationships may be identified with a grid of TDEM soundings encompassing both the spring systems.

Abstract: Abstract. Marine environmental protection has become the responsibility for worldwide common people ,therefore , the public become the main force of marine environmental protection inescapably. In recent years, some countries neighboring the South China Sea have accelerated the development and utilization of the oceans , resulting in a deterioration of the marine environment. Meanwhile, there are some problems in China's marine environment protection, such as narrow range in public, the right to public participation is not clear, there is no security or guarantee for participants, and other issues involved in the program. In this paper, the author try to give his own opinions from the aspects of public participation system and improving planning of marine environmental protection on marine environmental protection.

Abstract: It is known that, in our country, the current situation of water for farmland irrigation is low utilization, lack of management and a large number of serious water wastes. Therefore, the development of agricultural water-saving irrigation technology has become a top priority. According to the statistics survey of National Water Resources Development Ministry which published by Water Resources Bulletin, from 2000 to 2012, this paper analyzes the Chinese investment trend on water-saving irrigation, as well as the changeable situation of effective irrigation area. The results show that, during statistical periods, our country has paid attention to irrigation work and increased emphasis policy on agriculture. On this occasion, the irrigation investment increased 6 times and the promotion area increased by 14%. We can even draw a conclusion that China has promoted the development of agricultural water conservation work effectively. Moreover, in view of the existing multiple saving irrigation methods, this manuscript also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages in practical application, respectively. Putting forward the simulative suggestions to promote the water-saving irrigation technology and equipment provides a theoretical basis for future water-saving irrigation.

Abstract: A hybrid process coupling reverse osmosis (RO) with electrodeionization (EDI) was investigated to remove TDS and boron from simulated seawater in this study. The effects of applied total dissolved solids (TDS) and the concentration of boron in the feed water on product water quality were investigated. According to the results obtained, the TDS of the product water increased when a high applied TDS in the feed water; however, all of the TDS of the product were complying with relevant standards within experimental parameters. When the boron concentration was below 5.64mg/L in the feed water, the boron concentration of the product water was complying with relevant standards.

Abstract: Comparisons between theoretical and experimental results of the flow velocity of the nature-like channel embedded with stones were performed and the application range of the velocity formula was proposed in this study. Comparisons showed that variances of theoretical and experimental results in the rough bed are larger than those in the smooth bed, which implied that Rouve equation is applied better in the relatively smooth bed. Rouve equation is not applied well in the range of steep slope (s>1/20) and low depth (h<0.5m) with the effect of eddies and turbulences.

Abstract: This document explains and demonstrates how to prepare your camera-ready manuscript for Trans Tech Publications. The best is to read these instructions and follow the outline of this text. The text area for your manuscript must be 17 cm wide and 25 cm high (6.7 and 9.8 inches, resp.). Do not place any text outside this area. Use good quality, white paper of approximately 21 x 29 cm or 8 x 11 inches (please do not change the document setting from A4 to letter). Your manuscript will be reduced by approximately 20% by the publisher. Please keep this in mind when designing your figures and tables etc.
