Influence of Alloying Elements and Processing in AA 8006-Alloys on Microstructure and Properties of Rolled Products

Article Preview

Abstract:

The effect of Manganese as alloying element and important process parameters on the microstructure of AA 8006-alloys was investigated in this work. Furthermore the effect of different casting processes (CC-casting versus DC-casting) was studied. The addition of higher Mn-contents results in higher strength values and a better thermal stability. The recovery and recrystallisation behaviour is also influenced by the processing. Important process steps are the preheating and the intermediate annealing. The properties at final thickness are also related to the applied casting process ( DC versus CC).
