Preparation and Characterization of Boron Controlled-Release Film as a Potential Coating Material

Article Preview

Abstract:

The blend film is a favorable coating material for controlled-release fertilizer. The biodegradable PVA-boric acid controlled-release film and PVA-borax controlled-release film were prepared by the solution casting method. The water permeability and water absorbency were systematically investigated. The mechanical properties of these materials were determined with a strength-testing machine. The composite structure was determined by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and the scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The good controlled-release properties, lower water permeability and better tensile strength implied that the boron controlled-release film may be a potential coating material for the application in the controlled-release fertilizer.
