Introduction
Single crystal silicon are the important substrate materials of integrated circuits and TR optical materials because of its choiceness properties, such as high mechanical strength, steady chemical property, high refractive index, few dispersion and good optical constants[1].
This paper aims at exploring a new method of precision machining for hard and brittle materials.
So it is necessary to analyze the removal mechanism of hard-brittle materials.
When h is close to critical chip thickness hc, the phenomenon of brittle fracture should produce in materials, and the expression of formula of critical chip thickness is Eq.5: (5) Where ψ is dimensionless constant which is determined by material properties; H is hardness of materials; KIC is fracture toughness of materials.
