While sometimes being belittled, the importance of visual inspection in general and especially for the assessment of engineering structures has been highlighted, among others, by [9].
There are also some observations of cracks, some of which seem to be related to the limestone structures and were described in [5].
Additionally, some of these features can be useful as visible evidences of situations that could be related to defects in the structure.

Abstract:Nano crystalline SnO2 was prepared by sol-gel with PEG surfactant.
The spectra for SnO2 correspond to cassiterite structures (joint Committee on Powder Diffraction Standards, JCPDS, card nos. 41-1445) without any indication of other crystalline byproducts.
CuS is a metallic conductor and when CuO is converted to CuS on exposure to the reducing H2S gas–air mixture, band structure of pure SnO2 will be restored and p–n junctions will be destroyed, the electrical resistance leads to drastic decrease and hence to the extremely large H2S sensitivity.

Metroke et al. used EIS and salt spray analysis to determine the corrosion protective properties of hybrid organic–inorganic coatings on 2024-T3 aluminum alloys [12]; hydrolysis water ratio, organic content, and curing mechanism were found to affect the structure and corrosion resistance properties of the investigated Ormosil thin films [13].
