Rubber foam specimens for properties testing after vulcanization were prepared using a compression moulding process at 170 °C, with different curing times for each rubber formulation based on data from cure characterization.

They found that corrosion and wear resistance of the new samples was improved compared with the base metal, and conclude that attribute to the reduction of grain size and the mismatch of thermal expansion coefficient between base metal and reinforced particles, while the lubrication effect of Fe78Si9B13 particles plays the role of improving wear resistance.
