Abstract: The development of urban space axis is a historical process. People in different regions, with different cultures have different understanding of urban space axis. However, in the background of world's economic and cultural integration, urban planners, architects, government and builders miss in the issue of how to construct the urban space axis. The destruction of traditional urban axis and the convergence of new urban space axis exist at the same time. Then, where the development of urban space axis will go It is just the subject to discuss for planners and architects.

Abstract: In the process of urban construction in several thousand years, Chinese insisted on the principle of "man and nature co-existing in harmony", however, in recent years, due to blind pursuit of economic development, this principle was fading out. Taking advantage of urban resources without planning was confronting the city with an unprecedented crisis. This article reveals the problems in the guiding ideology of current urban planning and construction, and points out that we have to return to nature of urban planning and construction from the guiding ideology to realize rational development and utilization.

Abstract: The differences of spatial accessibility and spatial density of morphology structure for the medium and small cities in Northwest China are addressed based on site visiting, analyzing of satellite remote sensing images as well as the space syntax. The results reveal that different morphology structure appears different spatial charters. For the cities with a single centre, the morphology structure characters between small and medium cities have big differences. For the cities with several groups distribution separately, the spatial activities decline gradually from centre to outer areas. For the cities with multi-centres structure, the spatial structure is not even, because it is still in the first stage and the aggregation ability is still weak. The morphology change from simplicity to complication and its types change from single to diversity under the rapid urbanization process.

Abstract: The urban expansion direction and mode of Shizuishan City is addressed based on GIS and improved spatial diffusion model-replacing the spatial straight distance with cost weighted distance. This paper divides its spatial expansion into four cases: zero resistance, resistance, incomplete barrier and isolation. The diffusion model of urban space in terms of the new understanding of the resistance barrier in the spatial diffusion process is discussed. Then, this paper puts forward new trends of spatial development. The results reveal that Dawukou city area and Pingluo city, and Wuhai city and Huinong district form the coordination development tendency.

Abstract: As urban block parks are small public open spaces scattered in a city, users’ behavior requirements determine the space utilization. The study, taking Hangzhou Civil Park and Wanxiang Park for example, adopts POE basic study method to investigate and compare the service conditions of parks by means of analyzing behavior selection and space suitability, as well as to put forward space reform and optimizing strategies.
