Abstract: Cystine, frequently positive charged, formulated as a kind of hydrolysate surrounds the surface of hair. It baffles the particles with the same charge from being adsorbed by hair. On the contrary, it boosts those with the different charge. As a result, negatively charged ion, in the same condition, can be adsorbed more than those positively charged and much quicker to achieve the adsorption equilibrium. In the single solution, adsorption capacity is also relevant to the size of the particles. Namely, for metal ions, the larger the particles, the less they can be adsorbed. This is caused by the steric effect. While for organic anions, the larger the matter, the larger they can be adsorbed, which may be caused by van der Waals force.

Abstract: PM10 samples were collected at five sampling sites in city center of Shenyang from April 2008 to January 2009. The ambient concentrations of 17 selected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in PM10 were quantified. Spatial and seasonal variations of PAHs were characterized. Based on its BaP and BaP equivalent concentration (BaPeq), the health risk of PAHs in Shenyang was assessed.

Abstract: A highly sensitive direct competitive fluorescence immunoassay (FIA) was developed for the determination of diethylstilbestrol (DES), based on the antibody coating format using biotin-streptavidin amplification system. In the assay, DES competed with biotinylated goat anti-rabbit IgG for the immobilized antibody, then the streptavidin-FITC was added to link to the biotinylated goat anti-rabbit IgG as a tracer. Under optimal conditions, the assay provided a wide analytical range of 0.001-10000 ng/mL with a detection limit of 2.91×10-4 ng/mL (R2=0.9943). This method was then applied to the determination of DES in chicken with satisfactory results

Abstract: Brazil has performed an important role in the oil and gas industry mainly because its offshore E&P activities. The volume of oil produced in offshore fields had increased 88% in the last decade. Although the offshore exploration had begun in the 70’s of the last year, only in the year 2000 was promulgated a law enforcing the companies to notify any accidental release to the environment. Besides the Brazilian Navy and the National Petroleum Agency, the Brazilian Federal Environmental Agency - IBAMA is entitled to receive these notifications. Although IBAMA receives the oil spill communications since 2001, only in 2010 the Agency began to include this information in a database. This paper discusses the offshore oil spill data received between 2010 and 2011.

Abstract: The aims of this study are to evaluate multiple antibiotic resistant Escherichia coli isolated from surface water and to investigate the presence and distribution antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in sediments of Taihu Lake. The results show that the presentence of four ARGs concentrations in the sediments of the lake was in sequence: strB>qnrB>strA>qnrS, as determined by realtime-PCR technique. The southwest and east areas of Taihu Lake were polluted seriously than other areas from all kinds of antibiotics. The screening Escherichia coli had a higher resistance to streptomycin, tetracycline and ampicillin than other four antibiotics, and had a lowest resistance to levofloxacin.

Abstract: The forewarning concept is proposed based on the meaning of groundwater environmental health. PSR model is introduced to build the forewarning indicator system for groundwater environmental health and totally 44 indicators are selected. The calculation methods and characteristic significance of each indicator selected to build the indicator system is explained.

Abstract: Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) is a kind of very important organic chemical product, mainly used as plasticizer and softener for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and other rubber and plastic materials in industry. However, PAEs also is a common organic pollutant and extensively exists in atmosphere, water, soil, biology and food. And by a variety of ways enter into human body and have potential harm to human health, or even endanger people’s life. Therefore, government should work out the relevant laws and regulations, research the new non-toxic and environmental friendly plasticizer, and take prevention and restoration measures to protect the ecological environment and people’s health.

Abstract: SVM (Support Vector Machine) is a powerful data mining algorithm, and is mainly used to finish classification or regression tasks. In this literature, SVM is used to conduct disease prediction. We focus on integrating with stratified sample and grid search technology to improve the classification accuracy of SVM, thus, we propose an improved algorithm named SGSVM: Stratified sample and Grid search based SVM. To testify the performance of SGSVM, heart-disease data from UCI are used in our experiment, and the results show SGSVM has obvious improvement in classification accuracy, and this is very valuable especially in disease prediction.

Abstract: Apart from preventing and controlling economical, technical and safety impacts of failures, so to reduce at best production losses, maintenance target is to systematically check and improve the allocation and usage of resources in order to assure quality of products and processes. At the same time, consumption of resources and their relative environmental impacts are becoming a central issue in the new international regulations and standards for sustainable manufacturing. On these considerations, the paper proposes an innovative methodology that, starting from the principles of FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis), extends its own concepts with the introduction of a specific index to measure environmental effects of failures. Starting from the traditional definition of the RPN (Risk Priority Number) of a failure mode, the approach defines a new indicator (Environmental Indicator) to extend the results of FMECA and take in consideration the most critical issues of environmental protection: consumption of materials, emissions and wastes, lifespan of systems. Using this tool, maintenance scheduling can be defined considering also an environmental perspective. The methodology is tested on the maintenance program of a manufacturing line in a pharmaceutical production system and results are compared to the one obtained using a traditional FMECA approach.

Abstract: According to the characteristics of riverway ecological water use, we choose five major factors which affected ecological water use efficiency of urban riverway to establish indicator system for evaluation, and also determine the evaluation levels and single factor evaluation standard .Upon the basis above, we use the generalized Date Envelopment Analysis model on account of Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method to contrast the ecological water use efficiencies of ChangZhou city’s riverway from 2000 to 2010. Looking forward to supply urban ecological use efficiency evaluation with new thinking .
