Abstract: The miscibility and thermal properties of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate)/poly(ethylene oxide) blends were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results indicated that PHBHHx showed complete miscibility with PEO for PHBHHx/PEO 95/5, 90/10 and 80/20 blends as evidenced by the single composition-dependent glass transition temperature and the depression of the melting temperature of PHBHHx. However, PHBHHx showed partial miscibility with PEO for the other three blends as shown by the existence of unchanged composition independent glass transition temperature. The incorporation of PEO may improve the performances of PHBHHx to meet the different need in biomedical applications.

Abstract: Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate)copolymer [P(3HB-co-4HB)] is a kind of biodegradable high molecular polymer produced by bioaccumulation. Because of the good biodegradability and biocompatibility, P(3HB-co-4HB)s have attracted wide attention . At first, the intrinsic viscosity[η] in good solvent of P(3HB-co-4HB) s with varying contents of 4HB was investigated in different temperature. Second, observed the changes of crystallization gathered state caused by the varying contents of 4HB by polarizing microscope. The results show that to the P(3HB-co-4HB)s in same molecular weight, the intrinsic viscosity[η] in good solvent barely changes when the mole fractions of 4HB increase. On the other hand, the mean square end to end distances[0] of macromolecular flexible chains increase with the mole fractions of 4HB. At the same time, the states of aggregation change from spherulites to dendrites. In this investigation, we discuss the reasons of the differences in depth.

Abstract: The hydrophobically modified polyacrylamides (PAM) were synthesized using butyl acrylate (BA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) as hydrophobic monomers, via water solution free radical copolymerization. The influences of hydrophobic monomer content on the molecular weight, insoluble fraction and dissolution rate of PAM were investigated. The flocculation effects of PAMs for two kinds of tailing slurry with difficult sedimentation feature were also evaluated. The results show that different flocculation effects of hydrophobically modified PAMs can be obtained according to different kinds of tailing slurry.

Abstract: In order to indomethacin (IDM) for imprinting molecular, acrylamide (AA) as functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA two) as crosslinking agent, respectively by photopolymerization and thermal polymerization of two methods of aqueous solution polymerization, suspension polymerization preparation of molecularly imprinted polymer. The polymer adsorption experiments show that the use of light-polymerized specificity is strong; light initiated polymer used for sample determination and calibration experiments, results in tap water and river water samples in Enshi Qingjiang indomethacin recoveries were 84.3% and 87.1%, were higher than 80%.Tap water and the relative standard deviation (n = 3) were 3.96%, 14.2%, that can be used for the separation and enrichment of indomethacin in water samples.

Abstract: Poly(L-lactide)/poly(ethylene succinate)(PLLA/PES) composites were prepared via melt-blending. The bending properties of PLLA/PES composites and PLLA materials were determined. And the effect of degradation time on mechanical properties of PLLA/PES composites and PLLA were too discussed. The results show that the degradation rate of PLLA/PES composites is faster than that of PLLA materials, especially after the degradation time of 12 weeks.

Abstract: A new type of sulfonate surfactant (Gn-SHBP) has been prepared by esterification and sulphonation. At 25°C, the surface activity, the effect of NaCl on solution CMC(critical micelle concentration), emulsibility and the tolerance to inorganic salts of sulfonate hyperbranched polymer surfactants were investigated by the methods of surface tension, measuring cylinder and visible-infrared spectrometer. The results show that both surfactants have high surface activity; G2-SHBP exhibit higher surface activity than G1-SHBP with a CMC of 0.2 g/L and a γCMC of 25.36 mN/m; and both perform good emulsify power which exhibit better emulsion stability than SDBS; and high resistance to inorganic salt which can reach up to 260 g/L ( NaCl), 140 g/L(CaCl2) and 190 g/L(MgCl2), respectively.

Abstract: The epoxy resin casting made by RTM process, making use of FTIR, SEM, weight loss, bending strength test and analysis method to study on its thermal aging at 90°C for various durations to see the change of chemical structure, thermal weight loss, microstructure, mechanical property. The results show that: the epoxy resin at 90°C occurs only physical aging, weight loss retention rate exponentially decreased, micro topography showed typical cohesive failure, bending strength exponentially decline in aging, the bending strength retention rate is 93.72% after aging 13d, which indicates this kind of epoxy resin with excellent aging resistance.

Abstract: Wood plastic composites (WPC) prepared from poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and Balau wood particles were studied in the current research. Various particles sizes of wood flour with a top cut of 45, 75, 106, 180 and 250 µm was investigated at the range of 0-80 phr. Experimental results indicated that WPC was more stiff and brittle when the Balau wood flour was applied at all compositions. There was no statistically significant difference in the tensile strength and the elongation at break among the composites with different particle sizes. Treating the composites with silane coupling agent induced increments in both the impact strength and the tensile elongation at break.

Abstract: We proposed a photonic crystal(PC) cavity of hexagonal lattice with six air holes of which the radius are different from other cylinders. In the center of this structure, the cavity can be obtained and light confinement is achieved. The Figure of E vs time apparently demonstrates that the light confinement can be observed in ultrafast time. All the Figures in this paper, calculated by 3D finite-difference time-domain method, illuminate that the structure proposed is significant in the field of PC.

Abstract: A theoretical model based on the constitutive equations of piezoelectrics and magnetostrictor is introduced to discuss the magnetoelectric (ME) coupling in freebody bilayer containing magnetostrictive and piezoelectric phases. The ME coupling at low frequency of Ni0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4–PZT bilayer have been studied by using the model and the corresponding material parameters of individual phases. The results show that the ME voltage coefficients can increase to a maximum at a given volume fraction of piezoelectric phase. An approximately linear increase of the maximum has been obtained with strengthening interface coupling. Analysis shows that large magnetostriction, appropriate volume fraction and ideal interface coupling are key ingredients for obtaining excellent ME performance.
