Abstract: City climate, as one of the important component of city environment, plays an important role in affecting city space environment and urban planning. Taking the city Wu Han as a case, this paper introduces how to apply the CFD simulation of the digital model of metropolis to thermal environment study. Based on the phenomena of the thermal environment, tropical island effect and analysis, effective simulation results and the appropriate measures are given. Based on the analysis, some technical measures were discussed, such as city distribution, space shape and open space. According to the proof analysis, these measures are effective methods to improve the thermal environment of metropolis, and it is helpful to deal with the climate adaptability problems and energy saving design of the city.

Abstract: This paper is based on marine functional zoning and sustainable development theories; and it takes into consideration of the land-and-sea integrity strategy. Through index selection and model construction on the studies of regional marine resources and environment carrying capacity, the development density, and the development potential, the paper establishes a scientific evaluation system, and divides the studied coastal area into three function zones: optimized development zone, key development zone and restricted development zone. The paper takes four coastal regions/counties in Dongying as examples.

Abstract: Land finance pushed up house prices, fueled the real estate speculation, caused the local government financial risk, and buried the hidden danger in macro economic stability. This situation must be reformed. The research method is literature analysis. The result shows: in order to lessen the negative effects of land finance, we should deepen and perfect the reform of fiscal and taxation systems, divide financial power and responsibility reasonably, look for alternative sources of revenue actively, and reform tax system. At the same time, it must be done to change land assets management mode, break the local government’s monopoly of the land, and thus eliminate the local government impulse of selling land to raise funds.

Abstract: As a concentration center of modern industry and an important power of regional economic growing, development zone played a key role in improving rapid growth of economy. And it is also an engine of regional economical development and a new base of technology innovation. However, problems of development zone expansion and extensive land use have not been solved eventually. Based on basic investigations of land use, industrial development and economic situation of the development zone, this paper introduced a way of combination of GIS technology and mathematic model to evaluate potential size of intensive land us, especially information about the distribution and quantity of unused land, idle land and inefficiently used land. This is significant for the development zones to control blind expansion, improve identification of inefficiently used land, establish intensive land use model and build a perfect appraisal regulation and a long-term mechanism for intensive land use.

Abstract: Eco-city was researched from the basic characteristics and compared with existence form of life in this article. An eco-city shall form a living organism system as a complex organization of green building working as the main ecological circle in human society and civilization, demonstrating its nature of life as well. This paper analyzed the human as the most important part of a city, with both material and spiritual leading properties, elaborated that eco-city was similar to organism in the field of structure and composition, operation and control, development and evolution. It is concluded that human is the core energy and power of urban development in modern civilization.

Abstract: The analytical Hierarchy Process is a very popular method to evaluate the urban sustainable development. Therefore, this method is employed to evaluate the sustainability of urban area of Weifang, Shandong Province. According to the structure of the urban system and the establishing principles of index system in the sustainable development, the index system in the urban evaluation of the sustainable development in Weifang is established. After calculating index weight by The Analytical Hierarchy Process and the index score, the urban sustainable development index is calculated. Then the ability of the sustainable development is analyzed, and the corresponding Suggestions and countermeasures are offered in how to make the strategy and target of the sustainable development in Weifang. The results show that, Weifang sustainable development index is continuously rising in the last few years: from 0.28 in 2006 to 0.54 in 2010. According to the index, the sustainability of urban area is improved significantly for some environmental infrastructure being operated in recent years.

Abstract: The construction of eco-city is meant to harmonize the social, economical and natural development, with high-efficiency use of the material, energy and information. Eco-city is the inevitable choice of a city development in future. It is very important to explore the eco-city construction in the context of ecological civilization. In the background of ecological civilization, the relationship between ecological civilization and eco-city construction is explored. Furthermore, the importance of eco-city construction has been discussed. Finally, the eco-city theories and practical experiences abroad are summarized and some opinions and advices on eco-city construction in Shenyang, China are given.

Abstract: The 28 cities in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River can be regarded as an epitome of the cities in eastern, central and western China. Therefore, the low-carbon development level of the cities along the Yangtze River objectively reflects the overall development degree and regional difference of Chinese low-carbon cities. On the basis of analyzing and understanding the connotation of low-carbon cities, this thesis sets up the appraisal index system of low-carbon cities, puts forward the concept of low-carbon index, and conducts a cluster analysis and appraisal to the low-carbon indexes of 28 cities along the Yangtze River through a spatio-temporal path.

Abstract: China has been experienced rapid economic growth and population rate, leading to increasing water demands. Water resource is one of the most important factors limiting economic growth, which has been a hot topic among governments and international organizations. This study took Beijing city of China for an example to assess water carrying capacity (WRCC) based on the historical data from 2001 to 2010. Population size, economic scale and ecological environment were selected as main indices; the water carrying index, current WRCC in Beijing city and its dynamic tendency were evaluated. The results showed that the utilization of domestic water and ecological water accounted for the larger proportion. In addition water resources previously used for agriculture and industry systems tended to transfer to urban system due to rapid urbanization. This paper indicated that rational policies and measures should be established and implemented to make sure efficient water utilization in Beijing city.
