Abstract: Radix angelicae dahuricae can treat various pains pretty well. Imperatorin can be clinically used in anti-inflammatory and anti-bacteria. For a long time, usually high efficiency liquid chromatography was used to test imperatorin in radix angelicae dahuricae. The experimental method has been set up completely. However, the detection results for the same sample are different when determined by different laboratories, even in a same lab but the determent was performed by different person, the results still has some errors. In order to evaluate the uncertainty, this project detected the imperatorin in radix angelicae dahuricae and analyzed the source of uncertainty, then we found the determined result of the imperatorin in radix angelicae dahuricae has a confidence interval. This study plays a adjustment role on detecting the imperatorin.

Abstract: Fast and accurate segmentation of the facial feature regions is of great significance to research on objectification of complexion diagnosis. In this paper, we used the active appearance model (AAM) system to accurately locate 68 key points, and segmented the face region simultaneously. According to the Chinese medicine complexion-viscera principle, five face regions representing the five internal organs were segmented by using 68 key points. Experiments have shown that this method was efficient and fast for facial feature region segmentation, and laid a foundation for further research of objectification of complexion diagnosis.

Abstract: Effects of solvent types and extraction methods were investigated for effective recovery of fatty oils from Fructus Leonuri fruit . Among the five solvents tested, dichloromethane gave the highest recovery with Soxhlet extract ion (SE) , and ethanol gave the highest recovery with microwave assisted extraction (MAE) . In addition, the fatty oil content of the MAE extract was found to be only slightly lower than that of SE, but MAE was shown to permit comparable extract ion efficiency with 30 fold reduction in extraction time and 2 fold reduction in solvent consumption.

Abstract: The paper studied the effects of SMA as protective colloid on emulsification and micro-encapsulation process in the preparation of MF-resin microcapsules. The results indicated that pH value and the dosage of the SMA had important effects on zeta value and micro-encapsulation. The SMA dosage, emulsifying time and stirring rate influenced the capsule preparation, mean particle size and particle size distribution of microcapsules. The diameter became smaller with the increase of the amount of protective colloid. The applying amount of the SMA had an optimum value. The zeta potential just after emulsification was much larger than after reaction of MF in the preparation of microcapsules.

Abstract: In the presented paper, diatom distributions in the eastern Yangtze River and the main lakes, Jiangsu Province, China, were investigated, and on this basis, its significance for the diagnosis of drowning was discussed as well. Totally, 14 water samples were collected in 5 sites along the eastern Yangtze River and in 3 lakes within Jiangsu province of China in June and September, 2012. The genus and the quantity of the diatoms in the water samples were subsequently investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). With reference to diatom distribution, there is significant difference between the waters sampled from the different sites and in the different months. These data on diatom distribution are helpful to the diagnosis of the cause of the death as well as to the determination of the drowning site in cases of drowning. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the database of diatoms in more extensive water bodies for the forensic diagnosis of drowning in the future.

Abstract: Objective: p53, a tumor suppressor gene, is one of the hotspots in the world of the biomedical field. Mutation of p53 gene, which is found in approximately 50% of human cancers, is a key event in carcinogenesis. This project aims to investigate the new characteristics of two p53 mutants, p53-W248 and p53-H175, in MCF-7 cells, so as to provide the experimental basis for understanding the functional alternations of mutant p53.
Methods: In this study, MCF-7 cells transfected with p53-H175 or p53-W248 plasmids were used as experimental group and the MCF-7 cells transfected wild type p53 plasmid were used as control group. Then the biological effects at the cellular level were investigated using 3-(4.5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, flow cytometry analysis and cell scratch test.
Results: MTT assay showed that p53-W248 might promote cell proliferation in MCF-7 cells. The results of flow cytometry indicated that no significant effect on cell cycle progression and cell apoptosis by p53-H175 or p53-W248 in cells. The cell scratch test showed that p53-H175 could increase the ability of cell migration.
Conclusion: p53-H175 could lead to the promotion of tumor cell migration, while p53-W248 may promote tumor cell proliferation. p53-H175 and p53-W248 might have acquired some new characteristics of oncogenes.

Abstract: In the present study, a new method of microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) has been used to extract triterpene glucoside from Fructus Leonuri. Various experimental conditions, such as microwave radiation time, microwave power, liquid/solid ratio and grinding degree of material were investigated. Optimal conditions of MAE of triterpene glucoside were determined as: duration of microwave radiation 5min, microwave power 495W, size of raw material less than 0.15mm, and ratio of liquid to solid 30:1. Comparing with conventional heating extraction, MAE of triterpene glucoside from Fructus Leonuri showed advantages of less time and high extraction rate. The time used with MAE is only 5 min with 76.56% extraction rate, while the conventional extraction method took two hours with about 68.46% extraction rate. This novel method is suitable for fast extraction of triterpene glucoside from Fructus Leonuri.

Abstract: The aim was to research the antimicrobial effect of the extracts of Fruits of Herba Leonuri with different solvents on the common plant microbes. The bacteria cake method was used to study the antimicrobial capability of Fruits of Herba Leonuri. The extracts have anti-bacterial action on Rhixoctonia cerealis, Fusarium gram inearum, Rhizoctonia solani and Setosphaeria turcica, especially the extract from distilled water has the strongest anti-bacterial action on Rhixoctonia cerealis and Fusarium gram inearum, the extract from ether has the strongest anti-bacterial action on Fusarium gram inearum, the MIC all were 10 mg/ml The extracts had different antimicrobial effect when pH value was from 5 to 8. The extracts of Fruits of Herba Leonuri could inhibit the 4 pathogenic microorganism, and the antibacterial activity was affected by pH value greatly.

Abstract: To study the mitotic catastrophe induction effect of chelidonine on human gastric carcinoma SGC-7901 cells, MTT assay was applied to detect the proliferation inhibition effect of chelidonine. Giemsa staining was used to observe the morphological changes of the nucleus in gastric cancer cells and mitotic index (MI) was calculated. The results showed that chelidonine could effectively inhibit the proliferation of SGC-7901 cells and the IC50 was 48.67μmol/L. After treatment with 6.25-25μmol/L chelidonine, the numbers of giant cells with two or more nuclei was increased along with the increase of drug concentration. The mitotic index of cells was significantly increased compared with that of the control group (P<0.01). The conclusion can be drawn that chelidonine can inhibit the proliferation of SGC-7901 cells by inducing mitotic catastrophe of gastric carcinoma cells.

Abstract: Samples from 196 unrelated Guangdong Han individuals are typed with the EX22 kit (CSF1PO, D10S1248, D12S391, D13S317, D16S539, D18S51, D19S433, D21S11, D2S1338, D2S441, D3S1358, D5S818, D6S1043, D7S820, D8S1179, FGA, Penta D, Penta E, TH01, TPOX, vWA and amelogenin) and their allele frequencies are determined. Results show that the total discrimination power(TDP) of the multiplex system is 0.999 999 999, cumulative probability of paternity exclusion(CPE) for triplet cases is 0.999 999 997, indicating a high potential of differentiating between individuald in this population.
