Abstract: In recent years, numerous bridges have been damaged seriously even destroyed by fire hazards in China. Fires in bridges can result in significant losses of life and property, as well as traffic jam. Therefore, fire hazard in bridges is becoming a growing concern in the whole life cycle of design, construction, use and maintenance. There are few literatures on bridge fire incidents and research data in developed countries. In this paper, several typical bridge hazards in China shall be introduced firstly. Some research progress on bridge fire in China is described secondly. Critical research needs and are pointed lastly. The authors hope this paper may be a useful reference for people who hope to learn about the situation and research progress of bridge fires in China.

Abstract: It is inevitable that road routes cross the valley landforms in the construction of mountain road, and the debris flow risk assessment is one of the important basis works of engineering geological investigation. This paper presents the evaluation indexes and the classification standards of the danger evaluation based on the surveying data of road and analysis of the developing characteristic, formation conditions and influent factors of the debris flow in mountain highway construction area, Zhangjiakou city. With the multi-objective fuzzy pattern recognition method, the evaluation model is also established. With this model, the 15 debris flow valleys in the construction area are evaluated. The result is consistent with the field surveying result, which proves that the model represented by this paper is feasible and effective, and the results can reflect the actual situation. Thus, the multi-objective fuzzy pattern recognition method can be one of the methods to evaluate the danger grade of the debris flow.

Abstract: Tourist hotels are part of service industry, thus fire safety issues are particularly important. Due to the complexity of the hotel’s construction, most of the tourists are not familiar with the environment. In case of fire it would be hard for them to evacuate the building. Therefore, this study collects and organizes documents, regulations and cases. By applying risk management this study summarizes the key items of the fire safety risk assessment application are: Whether fire evacuation facilities have been blocked and major risk items must be examined daily.

Abstract: Mountainous freeway goes through complex geographic and geological regions and causes safety problem. Making clear of the inner relationship of the crash occurrence and the geometric factors is the most fundamental prerequisite to solve the problem. This paper reveals the contributing geometric factors through analyzing the crash data from Changjin Freeway, a typical mountainous freeway located in Jiangxi Province, China. Based on crash records and designed alignment data, contributing geometric factors are generally classified into three categories: vertical alignment, horizontal alignment, and cross section. And then detailed effects of geometric variables are separately discussed and quantified through the relation with crash rate (CR).

Abstract: Too many construction accidents have happened, which mainly caused because of the lack of safety investment. Analyzing the inner reason of the lack of investment in the construction of our country, looking for measures on guaranteeing that safety fund can be well applied on, increasing safety investment are preconditions to assure producing safety.

Abstract: Through the survey of the current situation of sport venues as disaster refuge at home and abroad, the advantages of sport venue were widely dissussed from open space outside the sports venues, characteristic of main stadium and information transceiver system. The distribution structure of the hierarchical network of sport venues was analysised. Finally, some examples of sport venues as disasger refuge were proposed. It will be new development trend of stadium and sport venue in the future.

Abstract: As an important living place for human beings, city is regarded as a main place for the birth, spread and development of human civilization. This paper, based on the principle of system development and combining with the need of building “Digital City”, makes an overall design of the “Digital City” 3D visualization system. Firstly, a 3D ground objects model, i.e. .x files, is made through inputting the ground objects of the experimental area into 3DSMAX, then, the .x files are converted to .xpc files in order to achieve a better displaying effect in producing a 3D landscape. Secondly, the author makes corresponding pre-processing to the aerial photos, satellite images, topographic data, digital elevation models and a variety of vector geographic data, and then superimposes and loads these data into Terra Builder module of Skyline software, which generates 3D topography landscape, that is, .MPT files and forms the terrain database required in Terra Explorer Pro software. Next, a 3D landscape is preliminarily established by inputting the 3D terrain model and the 3D ground objects model, i.e. .MPT files and .xpl files, in Terra Explorer Pro, and by editing a real and accurate 3D geographic model and a real Digital City 3D landscape model, that is, FLY files, are respectively formed. Finally, on the basis of the 3D landscape model, the system is developed by using Visual Basic + TerraDeveloper and the basic operation of 3D, spatial analysis, visible analysis and other basic functions are preliminarily achieved

Abstract: CORS is called Continuous Operational Reference System, which comprise a network of Global Positioning System receivers. Traditional sensors were used to determine the working environment parameters and mechanical property parameters of the bridge, and CORS technology was applied to obtain the positions of bridge monitoring points in three axis directions, besides the technology was adapted to combine GIS software with the relational database, in which the function of GIS and SQL Server were to manage the spatial information and the corresponding attribute data. In this paper the technology route was designed in detail to realize the real-time dynamic monitoring and visualization analysis of the deformation of large bridge. This system was developed to evaluate valuable information such as the stability, durability and reliability of the bridge.
