Abstract: It is very common for parents in the city to drop off and pick up their children at the kindergartens, and it usually results in severe traffic jam because traditional kindergartens lack of space for such picking-up & dropping-off behavior. This article analyzes the current status of the Pick-up & Drop-off Space in kindergartens, studies the characteristics of the Pick-up & Drop-off behavior and the resulted space demand, learns from foreign experience, explores the design mode of such spaces and finally illustrates the mode by relevant examples. The study on Pick-up & Drop-off space has an important practical significance in both improving kindergarten building design specifications and guiding the construction of kindergartens.

Abstract: This paper starting from the basic concept of green settlements to discuss the importance of natural ecological network to the development of green settlements; discuss the active role of green system and water system in the development of green settlements, and how to utilize it in urban planning and design; discuss land use patterns and the development pattern of street, also related to the land, air, water, plants and other natural environmental factors. Proposed that if a development model was adapted to obtain the harmonious coexistence of urban development and natural environment in the green residential development, we can obtain not only a good ecological benefits, but also get a good social and economic gains.

Abstract: Abstract: Traffic is an important factor to investigate the development space of a city. Therefore, how to solve current traffic problems has become the first task of local government and academic communities. The article analysis the traffic issues in Wuhan from many aspects such as urban ring roads, bridge traffic, urban sprawl, transfer system and people’s traffic, trying to find out the causes of Wuhan traffic problem. Additionally, we use the referential models to resolve the current problems, and give some recommends.

Abstract: Facing the increasingly severe situation of city security issues, researches on urban planning and design have gradually expanded. However, problems in connection with people are not taken seriously. Regardless of disaster type, human beings, as one group of the disaster receptors, produce a similar psychological and physiological response to threats. Therefore, disaster prevention and mitigation should be people-oriented. Based on danger stress response, this paper analyses types and characteristics of thinking and behavior in disasters or emergencies and reflects the significance of people-oriented urban safety design. In addition, this paper takes public space, which plays an important role in urban security as the main subject and proposes urban design strategies on appeasing negative psychological and behavioral stress response, attempts to provide a scientific basis for effective disaster prevention strategies in order to minimize the hazards to humans caused by physical and psychological impact.

Abstract: There are relationship between road capacity with building floor area ratio. It can be coordinated that between city planning, construction scheme and road system volume by find out connection of them. This paper will discuss the effect of the road capacity to city planning and building floor area ratio. At the same time it explain how traffic systems engineering infiltrate and cross with the city planning subjects in teaching, further raise students’ interests in the study, reinforce the ability of combining theory with practice, cultivate students’ open-minded and creative thinking by example analysis.

Abstract: In order to distinguish the rationality of urban expansion, find out the problems in expansion and then guide city's develop healthy, the thesis attempt to establish urban expansion evaluating system. Because there is no definite line to discriminate reasonable and unreasonable land expanding phenomenon, the thesis uses the fuzzy comprehensive evaluating method. The land expansion evaluating system includes 53 indexes covering three levels which are based on expanding way, expanding land benefits and expanding influences. The thesis also introduces the evaluating standard, evaluating model, and the way to determine the indexes' weight etc. The evaluating result may be useful for government department concerned to make or revise the land use planning or master planning.

Abstract: With the accelerated process of urbanization in China, the high-rise buildings are springing, which makes a large number of open spaces located at the bottom of high-rise buildings. By conducting field research and observation to some areas with high-rise buildings in winter cities, the paper not only summarizes the problems existing in open space environment at the bottom of high-rise buildings, but also proposes the planning and design strategies based on the comfort of environment including well organizing wind environment, creating comfortable sunshine environment, reducing environmental pollution and forming different functional spaces.
