Abstract: Two relatively high concentration 4% and 6% the replaceable Linear polyacrylamide (LPA) gel was used as the sieving medium. An extensive series of experiments has been performed using DNA fragments ranging in size from 80 to 587 base pairs; the properties such as the mobilities, the width at half height, and the resolution were compared. The electric field was changed from 100V/cm to 375V/cm. From the experiment results, it is shown: increasing the gel concentration from 4%LPA to 6%LPA can not improve the resolution to separate the DNA sample (the length of fragments600bp). This work complements our systematic study and will help to further optimize and improve high performance DNA separation in microfluidic applications.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to develop a novel method to precisely measure the arc length of curving skeleton. We developed a formula by using differential equation and the arc length of bending bones can be calculated according to the chord length and height. With this method, we measured the coronal arc length of parietal bones in fetus. Our results showed that the arc length calculated using the formula was not significantly different from those obtained by manual measurements (P>0.05). We concluded that this method was simple, precise and can be used to measure the ossification length of any fetus parietal bones with less than 180o curvature or the arc length of bones in other parts of humans.

Abstract: Using the GEP,the QSAR model for anti-cancer activity of 38 compounds in 5 cancer cell lines was establish. These compounds are a novel class of anticarcinogen named tricyclic 5:7:5-fused diimidazo [4, 5-d:4, 5-f ][1, diazepines. The carcinoma cell lines involved in this research are A549 lung cancer, MCF-7 breast cancer, MDA-MB-231 breast cancer, OVCAR-3 ovarian cancer and PC-3 prostate cancer. Accuracies of these models in training group and test group are over 90%, showing perfect predictive ability. This QSAR model will be great valuable in providing guidance for future designing and synthesizing of anticancer drugs.

Abstract: Zoysia (Zoysia japonica Steud.) is a warm-season turf grass, which possess seed coat-imposed dormancy that hampers germination. The objective of the present study was to determine the most effective methods in breaking the seed dormancy of zoysia. This experiment was used to find the right concentration and treatment time. KOH, NaOH, C3H6O, and H2SO4 solutions are the four kinds of chemical agents used which were evaluated and sixty four treatments were conducted. The results indicated that all chemical agents investigated can successfully remove glumes and promote seed germination of zoysia under certain concentrations and treatment times. The best method for seed dormancy breaking in zoysia was 20% KOH solution for 30 min.

Abstract: Potato sizes of the longshu 3, new daping and zhuangshu 3 proceed statistics, the typical value of potato size statistics is got. Application of section modeling technology gets the potato contour data, then the data imports into Solidworks software and generates Potato solid model, application of ANSYS/Ls-dyna software to carry on the research of potato with a certain rate in X, Y, Z three directions of loading stress. The results show that Potato X finite element model to compression stress was 1.27MPa, Y to the maximum stress is 5.84MPa; Z to the maximum stress is 3.9MPa. The tuber compression test finds that the 35mm/min rate in three different loading directions on potato compression force-time curves are different, Y curve is higher than that of X and Z direction, Z curve is higher than the Z, the rupture force Z is more than X and Y direction, X is higher than Y direction, the simulation curves are basically identical to experimental curves.

Abstract: In order to investigate the diatom distribution in the five lakes along the Yangtze River, and discuss the significance for the diagnosis of drowning. 6 water samples were collected in the five lakes along Yangtze River in June, 2012. Subsequently, The genus and the quantity of the diatoms in the water samples were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The result showed us that there was significant difference between the waters sampled from the different sites . These data on diatom distribution are helpful to the diagnosis of the cause of the death as well as to the determination of the drowning site in cases of drowning. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the database of diatoms in more extensive water bodies for the forensic diagnosis of drowning in the future.

Abstract: This paper aimed on the effects of several technologies on engine NOx emission via simulation, an improved method to reduce engine NOx emission was obtained according the simulation results and was verified by engine test. The study uncovered that a retarded fuel injection timing would reduce engine NOx emission and make it below IMO limitation, while the penalty of fuel consumption is under tolerance of engine operator. The method adopted in this research can bring engine NOx emission under current IMO requirement, and this has been verified by engine test.

Abstract: Abstract. Twenty-five topsoil samples (0-20cm) were collected to determine the dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) and its metabolites, isomers of hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) residues from the agricultural soil in the Miyun County. The average measured concentrations of HCH and DDT were 1.07±0.84 and 6.54±7.88 ng·g-1, separately (dry weight; n=25; shown as arithmetic mean and standard deviation), which were lower than most of the results reported in literatures. Both of the detectable rates of HCH and DDT were 100% and the residual levels was lower than most of other Chinese region.According to the values of isomers ratios, it show that HCH mainly from residues, therefore there were still new sources of DDT which entered into the soil of the studied area.

Abstract: The corrosion behavior of typical grounding materials Zn and Cu in Shanbei soil solution was studied by immersion test technique, galvanic corrosion current measurement and simulated stray current test. The results showed that Zn was seriously corroded with the corrosion product of ZnCO3, while Cu was slightly corroded with the main rust of Cu2(OH)2CO3 and copper oxides. The corrosion of Zn was accelerated and Cu was protected when coupled them together. Stray current can significantly increase the corrosion process of both Zn and Cu.

Abstract: To reveal the modulating effects of the solar activity on ionospheric TEC, the long-term characteristics of TEC were analyzed. The analysis was based on the data of the sunspot and data of GPS observation provided by IGS analysis centers from 1999 to 2011. The results showed that the variation of monthly mean TEC was of significant regularity. The regularity was caused mainly modulation action of solar activity. In view of the spatial variation of TEC, the monthly mean TEC can be well described for modeling and prediction on base of relationship between TEC and latitude.
