Abstract: The genetic diversities of 5 populations of Solidago canadensis were studied using intersimple sequence repeat markers method (ISSR). Genomic DNA was extracted by a modified NaOH method from samples collected in Zejiang province, China. Meanwhile, the generative organs (buds and rhizomes) of S. canadensis and plant species number in its grown site were investigated. Our results indicated that among 5 populations, the polymorphic percentages ranged from 78.08 to 91.03. Neis gene diversity index and Shannon diversity index were more than 0.25 and 0.38 respectively. The 5 populations displayed some genetic differentiations (Gst=0.3208), showing Jiaxing population and Zhoushan population in one group, while Hangzhou population, Wenzhou population and Quzhou population in another group. We found that the number of buds varied greatly among the 5 populations, genetic diversity of S. canadensis displayed significant negative correlation with the number of buds and significant positive correlation with plant species number in its grown site. S. canadensis population has higher genetic diversity index and less buds, when grown with more other species, than with less other species. The result implied that increased competition from other species of plant community could reduce fecundity of S. canadensis.

Abstract: A novel type of chiral N-substituted methacrylamide derivatives bearing an oxazoline pendant (OPMAM) had been synthesized. Radical polymerization were carried out to produced corresponding polymers with high specific rotation in moderate yields. The polymerization characteristics and the chiroptical behavior of the resultant polymers have been examined in detail by using HPLC and CD and UV-vis spectra. The polymers showed relatively high molecular weights(Mn=5000-15000). The abolutely value of the specific rotation of poly(OPMAM)s basically increased with increasing the molecular weights.

Abstract: Objective: To study the effects of a mixture of ferulic acid and gastrodin on spontaneous activity in mice, we explored the pharmacological effects on the central nervous system. Methods: 50 healthy adult mice were randomly divided into five groups, each 10 mixture times the dose groups, respectively. The negative control group (ig same volume of saline) (ig ferulic acid 0.76mg • kg-1, gastrodin 1.06mg • kg-1), a 2-fold dose group (ig ferulic acid 1.52mg • kg-1, gastrodin 2.12mg • kg-1), 4-fold dose group (ig ferulic acid 3.04mg • kg-1, gastrodin 4.24mg • kg-1), 8-fold dose group (ig ferulic acid 6.08mg • kg-1, gastrodin 8.48mg • kg-1). We measured the spontaneous activity in mice before and after the administration of 10min, 20min, 30min, 40min, 50min, 60min, 80min, 100min, 120min, 180min, 240min, 360min. Results: Compared with the negative control group, there was a significant excitatory effect in 1-fold dose of spontaneous activity in mice in 60min, 80min, 100min (P<0.05, P<0.01); while 4-fold and 8-fold dose in 80min (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusions: There was an exciting effect of a mixture of ferulic acid and gastrodin in a certain dose range, but not in a dose-dependent manner.

Abstract: Objective: The determination and ratio of ferulic acid and gastrodin in Xiongma Decoction extract by different extraction process were compared, to provide scientific research basis on creating new drugs, controlling the quality combination of modern Compound Chinese, determining the main effect and compatibility. Methods: Chuanxiong and Tianma were extracted by different extraction method such as the boiling method and ethanol extraction by different concentrations to make Xiongma Decoction. The content of ferulic acid and gastrodin were determination by HPLC to make Xiongma Decoction and their ratio was calculated. Chromatographic conditions of ferulic acid: mobile phase: methanol-0.01 % acetic acid solution (30:70, V/V), the detection wavelength: 310nm; chromatographic conditions of Gastrodin: mobile phase: acetonitrile-0.05 % phosphoric acid (3:97, V/V), detection wavelength: 220nm. Results: The determination of ferulic acid was 0.976mg • ml-1, gastrodin was 1.586mg • ml-1, the ratio of ferulic acid and gastrodin was1:1.6 in boiling method; while the determination of ferulic acid was 6.08mg • ml-1, gastrodin was 3.57mg • ml-1, the ratio was 1.7:1 in ethanol extraction. Conclusion: There are different determination and ratio, when there is different extraction process in the same prescription. This may bring about changes the main effect in prescription. This suggests that the ratio of the main active ingredient should be included in the quality inspection, when preparation process of the traditional recipe was changed.

Abstract: Abatract: Choose 32 Compositae family plants which come from 14 different species (mainly based on yellow petals) were chosed, extract their pigments with anhydrous ethanol and N-butyl alcohol: Formic acid: water=4:1:2(in volume) as solution for chromatographywere extracted, and observe each petal band under 254nm ultraviolet light and write down Rf value of each band was observed. In the end, using NTSYS-pc 2.10e software to construct petal pigments phylogenetic tree with UPGMA method. The cluster analysis suggested that petal pigments of 32 Compositae family plants had certain polymorphism, and they could be classified into 4 groups at 0.70. In the 4 groups, most of the material (81.25%) belonged to group I, and the rest were classified into group II、III、IV respectively. Most of them which had a close relationship could be in one group, and those had remote relationship could be distinguished from each other.Classification of Compositae species based on petal pigments is feasible, which has an advantage of rapid, stable, low-carbon, environmental friendly when compared with mmolecular marker technology.
