This volume is dedicated to the 120 th anniversary of the National Mining University (Dnipro, Ukraine) and designed for researchers and practitioners, students, postgraduates and university lecturers, as well as for anyone, who interested in energy conservation issues. In the case of coal fuels, as one of the main energy source, effective technologies for maintaining mining operations under difficult conditions are substantiated. The energy efficiency of coal gasification with the use of mining waste has been estimated, technical and technological means, as well as conditions for the introduction of the gas generator are proposed. In the aspect of the normalization of working conditions of miners, protective effectiveness of respiratory devices is established, taking into account the requirements of the European standard EN 529: 2006. The possibility of significant energy savings is demonstrated by the introduction of electric drives with group power from a conventional DC device with storage capacity.

Besides the continuous research on HEAs, special interest developed in so-called medium entropy alloys (MEAs) [14], providing pathways for dual- or multi-phase microstructures and enabling more options for microstructure engineering [15].
The influence of stress concentrators on a components lifetime cannot be neglected and the characterization of stress concentrations, resulting from cracks, notches, sharp corners, joints or other geometrical irregularities is an important part of engineering safety protocol.
Moreover, [9] designed strategies for developing advanced fatigue-resistant HEAs, based on the aspects of hierarchical microstructure, reversible planar slip, deformation twinning (TWIP) and transformation induced plasticity (TRIP), of which only the aspect of hierarchical microstructure was observed in the present study.

(ix) Technical and economical considerations (Raw material availability, adaptability of process parameters to easily available engineering materials).
It is well known that the optimal engineering performance of a glass is dominated by its structure.
S.V.Raman from Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, USA [109] has compared the Raman spectra of alumino-borosilicate glasses of varying composition and concluded that the incorporation of ZrO2 leads to decrease in the leaching of alkali ions.
