Abstract: First built in A.D. 198, Wandu Mountain City, which lies 2.5 kilometers north to Ji’an City of Jilin Province, was the site of the once important capital of early-middle Koguryǒ. In this article, we creatively reconstruct a group of palace complex on Wandu Mountain City by combining the survey of the present remains and the analysis of archaeological excavation report and previous research findings with traditional architectural theory and construction technology. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of different parts of the palace remains, the article elaborates the determination of the reconstruction date of the Wandu Mountain City Palace, provides grounds for reconstruction design and reconstructs the whole architectural complex on the four stylobates.

Abstract: University library is the academic research center of modern university, known as "the heart of a university". So it should not only be in eye-catching appearance, but also has rich cultural connotation. In addition, university library also has to meet the people-oriented management idea in architectural design and layout. In this article, the author explore the design features of the university library building in new century from aspects of design concept, general plan planning, function, flow line, shape and characteristic.

Abstract: On the base of the city wall of the Wudai period, the outer city wall of Kaifeng of Northern Song Dynasty formed internal and external structure with maintenance of many times. On the wall are some defending facilities such as Mamian, barbican, dilou, zhanpeng, etc. The city gate consists of double ones, treble barbicans and water gates. The outer city make Kaifeng city of Northern Song Dynasty looks like a military castle.

Abstract: Prof. Liang Sicheng made great contribution to heritage conservation of China. He established the very impressed concept of historic monument restoration of "fix old as the old", and the concept of integrated urban conservation. However, with the time passing, the concept of "fix old as the old" is out of the main conservation theory of today.

Abstract: Based on the investigation of traditional town houses in Changsha, the traditional building design strategies of town houses to environment are analyzed from the viewpoint of building technology. By analyzing the plan, the courtyard, the roof and measures for fire proof and moisture proof, and citing typical examples, the sustainable development principle of building and environment are elaborated. Furthermore, it provides several helpful reference and clue for ecological construction at present and in future.

Abstract: The construction of Marshal Zhang’ Mansion experienced three periods. A three-Courtyard was building from 1914 to 1918. Big-blue building was built in the early 1920s and Small-blue building was built before the early 1920s. Six red brick buildings were built after 1929. The three groups of buildings in the three periods condense that modern architectures how to evolve in Shenyang from 1912 to 1931,including of technology, material and style. Therefore, as long as we understand the developmental characteristics of buildings’ in Marshal Zhang’ Mansion, we can grasp the evolutionary law of modern architectures in Shenyang in this period. So Marshal Zhang’ Mansion has great significance to the architectural history in Shenyang.

Abstract: This thesis makes an in-depth research on the contemporary condition and future trend of the critical regionalism in Chinese architectural field. In the world multi-cultural pattern, academic circles show more and more attention to and concern about local civilization. As a participator of social practice, architect is responsible for maintaining the insistence and sustainable development of local civilization. Chinese architects are preceding with a misbelief that heritage and adoption of “modernism” does not premise on the doubt and repulsion of “universalism” civilization, just as their counterparts in advanced countries in early years. How to treat technology, art, philosophy, tradition and innovation correctly is a lasting historic subject for Chinese architect.

Abstract: The problematic of this research paper is that why design aesthetics has nothing to do with design practice Aim to this problematic, this paper take a primary review on contemporary aesthetics and by review on Barthes’s semiotics, then, we propose the discourse of design culture code as a supplement of design aesthetics, for answer the problematic of this research.

Abstract: A new algorithm based on orthogonal arrays is developed to determine the optimal solution among the optional settings using the design of experiment approach for newly designed devices. The proposed algorithm begins with several successive orthogonal arrays and ends with a full factorial array. In the proposed algorithm, we suggest a mandatory verification of two additional settings at each orthogonal array to avoid errors in identifying the best level of the dominant factor, which often occur when a non-separable problem is solved. We initially verify the proposed algorithm by applying it to a well-known benchmark problem, the Rosenbrock function. The proposed procedure is described in detail in this paper. To distinguish the superior performance of the proposed algorithm relative to that of other design of experiment approaches, we study three types of problems with non-interactive or interactive variables. Finally, a light-gauge steel wall sound isolation system design is used to demonstrate the robust performance of the proposed algorithm. The results show that the proposed method not only provides a final solution that is identical to the problem’s exact solution but also requires much less computation time than a full factorial method.
