Abstract: Herzog and de Meuron were 2001 Pulitzer prize winners. Their buildings are famous because of the unique and amazing epidermis. In their representative works, there are two major ways to create and form epidermis. The first one is learning from the surrounding context and environment, and the second is thinking about the features of architectures. This paper, through the investigation of six of their major works: Dominus Winery in California of the US(1998), De Young Museum in San Francisco (2004), the library of Brandenburg Industrial University in Germany, the Tokyo Prada flagship store in Japan, Munich Allianz Stadium in Germany, and Laban Centre for Contemporary Dance in London, summarizes the main methods of H&dM.Architecture surface processing is becoming more and more concerned by the construction industry and the viewers. H&dMs methods of design provide our use for reference. Let us look forward to their next new work.

Abstract: In recent years the community has continued to raise awareness about the protection of historic buildings including Buddhist temples, but unfortunately the protection of the sound environment, which is an important part of the overall environment of historic buildings, is often ignored, and there is still a lack of research on the relationship between the sound environment and the traditional temples space in scholarly circles. Soundscape theory studies the sound environment from the perspective of sound, the environment and the listener, differing from traditional acoustics in considering peoples awareness and evaluation of sound in a special condition. Therefore, using soundscape theory as its major tool, it is considered to be future research direction that the impact of spatial elements in Han-Chinese Buddhist temples on the acoustic environment. By means of acoustic data to make a quantitative analysis of architectural history, it will in theory broaden the research domain of architectural history and lay a solid foundation for Chinese religious soundscape science, and in practice, will support the protection of the acoustic environment of historic buildings as intangible cultural heritage, and provide sound field parameters for the construction of a new temple.

Abstract: The traditional dwelling is an important milestone in the architectural history of China and it has been proved to be adopting of natural environment. In this work, Edong of Hubei Province was selected as research area to investigate the building technology and its aesthetic characteristics of the traditional dwellings. This study has been conducted using the methodologies such as data collection, field investigation and comparative analysis. Main findings of this work are include: the construction site of the traditional dwellings is in accordance with the traditional Chinese feng-shui, which most of the houses built in mountain with facing water as well as located in north with facing south; the structure of the dwellings mainly consists of carrying beam, puncture bucket,Carrying beam and puncture bucket structure hybrid, brick-wood structure; for building materials, stone, wood and brick are the common stuffs. In general, wood pillars with stone foundation which shaped as drum, square, melon, bottle, octagonal-pier and so on. The foundation of the column is formed often related to the pattern of column: square columns are commonly based on a foundation with square top and cylindrical column uses generally a foundation with drum top. This research indicates that the aesthetics of traditional dwellings in eastern Hubei Province are mainly reflected in the natural beauty and sense of form.

Abstract: The traditional Chinese elements, which are the embodiments of Chinese culture, should be naturally applied into modern environmental art design. And the residents psychological needs should be put in the first place in the design process because their natural emotions are closely related to the national culture. So during the design process, designers are required to absorb the essence of traditional Chinese elements and to bring forth new ideas in order to make the environmental art design consistent with the development of Chinese traditional culture.

Abstract: Some of the elements of a new vision for broad, spatially and temporally extensive data on occupant satisfaction in built environments coupled with processes to drive improvement in green building practice. The survey demonstrated that occupants in green buildings were more satisfied with thermal comfort and air quality in their workspace. The studying contents on specific strategies which will promote the environment building in the future.

Abstract: The Da Hejia region of the Jishi hill county is the main settlements for the Bonan. Some basic research works have been done to achieve the region of modern architecture and vernacular architecture modern in recent years with the accelerated process of urbanization in the region. The building construction of traditional settlements for the Bonan were analyzed and sorted out from the aspects of the settlement morphology, spatial construction and architectural forms; the methods were used by the quantitative and qualitative analysis method from the architecture and landscape architecture perspectives based on field researches. The disappearing wealth has been recorded and cleared up by weighing the inherent characteristics; that will provide a reference value for the region's urban and rural construction in the future based on the settlements generation and development experience.

Abstract: Aiming at the problem of fire risk of the traditional scaffold construction scheme, a new type of scaffold construction scheme was proposed. In the vertical layout of scaffold board, this scheme alternately arranged to take the "two layers of bamboo fence one layer steel fence". In order to verify the feasibility of the prevention of the spread of fire about the new scaffold construction scheme, three groups of fire experiments were designed. By the analysis of experimental phenomena and data results, it is concluded that the steel fence boards used as isolation layers in the new scaffold construction scheme can effectively mitigate the risk of fire spreading upward or downward along the burning scaffold.

Abstract: In the present work, effect of field irrigation on tensile behaviors of disposable drip tape made from virgin PE is studied. Results show that after 5 months (from Novomber, 2012 to next April, 2013) field irrigation tests, there are no intrinsically changes in tensile stress-strain behaviors for the disposable drip tape made from virgin PE along the longitudinal direction. Tensile stress-strain behaviors for the disposable drip tape made from virgin PE along transverse direction is different. After field irrigation tests, the tapes are prone to sudden rupture at the seams accompanied with a relative smaller elongation and acute stress drops while those as-received show large elongation with gradual stress decrease under transverse tensile. However, rebound of the stretched tapes after field irrigation tests is distinctly smaller than those of as-received samples.

Abstract: Because the sense of place of residential district are more and more important, the designer will face the subject how to increase the sense of place of residential district. This article analyses of the factors that increasing the sense of place of the district in where people live and taking Chengdu Phoenix habitat Residential Area for example, and obtaining the factors of the sense of place in residential area to embody the emotion of "home" concept.

Abstract: With the arrival of an aging society, China has established the major mode of home-based care for the aged. Due to the lack of policies and regulations, there is a serious lack of community living facilities for the aged. According their living needs, the author divides the community living facilities into three categories, including health care ones, daily service ones as well as cultural and recreational ones. In this thesis, the author segments each category and puts forward that, under the mode of home-based care for the aged, the community living facilities shall have corresponding service functions. In the end, the author concludes with a number of specific suggestions.
