Abstract: This paper developed a composite indicator for evaluating the performance of low-carbon economy for the cities in Jiangsu province, China. The empirical results show that the performance of low carbon economy of cities in Jiangsu province may be divided into three levels. The first level include Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, and Nanjing, that the performance is below the province average level; the second level including Huaian, Suqian, Lianyungang, and Nantong which, that the performance is similar with the province average level; the rest of the cities in Jiangsu are set as third level. At same time, this paper analyze some cities’ performance of low carbon economy.

Abstract: China is a prairie giant, where available grassland area of pasturing and semi-pasturing areas account for 61.5% of national total grassland area. As China is paying more and more attention to ecological environment construction, pasturing and semi-pasturing areas become the key areas of grassland ecological protection, and the grassland sustainability status is attracting more and more attention. Based on ecological footprint model in this study, the relevant data from 2006 to 2013 are used for empirical analysis on per capita ecological footprint and per capita ecological carrying capacity of Chinese pasturing and semi-pasturing grassland. Results show that since 2006, per capita ecological footprint demand of Chinese pasturing and semi-pasturing grassland shows a small growth, while per capita ecological carrying capacity falls slightly. The pasturing and semi-pasturing areas generally present a sustainable development situation, and the per capita ecological surplus of grassland shows an overall growth, but falls slightly over the last two years. Therefore, it is still required to further strengthen the ecological protection of Chinese pasturing and semi-pasturing grassland.

Abstract: This article took the lead to study the relationship between new energy consumption, traditional energy consumption and economic growth in China from 1990 to 2012, employed methods of regressive model and Granger causality estimation. Econometric software—Eviews 6.0 was used during the calculation process. The empirical study showed that both new energy consumption and traditional energy consumption could promote economic growth in China. However the influences of new energy consumption and traditional energy consumption on Chinese economic growth have the asymmetry. The effect of new energy consumption on economic growth was lower than that of traditional energy consumption. In the short term, new energy consumption was the Granger causality of economic growth in China. However economic growth was also the Granger causality of new energy consumption in the long term. Therefore, in order to achieve sustainable development and low carbon economy in China, it is imperative to make new energy sources play a more important role in economic growth and replace traditional energy sources gradually.

Abstract: The iron & steel industry in China is facing a wide range of problems, such as the ill-structured energy utilization and the long production cycle, lead to the high-level of CO2 emission discharge and severely hinder the development of this industry. Based on the current situations of CO2 emission and its regulations in China’s iron & steel industry, this paper identified the underlying causes of difficulties in CO2 discharge reduction as the lack of effective management system and reduction techniques. To explore a feasible strategy and approach for controlling CO2 emission in the iron & steel industry, this paper puts forward suggestions in the aspect of management, techniques and researches.

Abstract: As one of old northeast industrial base, Liaoning province, whose economic growth depends largely on energy consumption, which is not conducive to sustainable economic development. According to the GDP and energy statistical data of Liaoning in 1988~2012, we use the correlation analysis and regression analysis of statistical methods to research the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth, then getting the correlation coefficient and regression models.Through analyzing results and combining with real situation of Liaoning, we put forward suggestions from the following seven aspects, they are improving energy efficiency, accelerating energy marketization, adjusting energy structure, optimizing industrial structure, developing circular economy, enhancing energy-saving ideas and establishing strategic alliances to promote energy and economic sustainable development.

Abstract: The environmental science major opened in China Pharmaceutical University in 2008, has made some achievements in the exploration and practice of professional curriculum (for teachers) and learning effect assessment (for students) in recent years. By learning from the PBL teaching concept, we advocated the concept of "great discipline" in teaching practice. Based on the existing foundation and integrating teaching resources, we took the environmental issues of drugs as the main line and played specialty of teachers, focusing on the experience of students in the evaluation of learning effect, reflecting the concept of "differentiated treatment, personalized training" principle. So, it would be more objective and fair for the assessment of students. It provided a wealth of experience for the development of the discipline.

Abstract: The paper considered a number of available pathways to move to low-carbon transport with low energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including: promoting alternative energy carriers for all transport modes and improving vehicle fuel efficiency; avoiding or reducing the need to travel by private car through pricing and integrated land-use and transport planning policies; encouraging a modal shift to more energy-efficient mode for a particular trip through pricing mechanisms, regulation, and investments. It’s also mentioned that a combination of the available policies and the collaboration between all relevant institutions and policymakers are necessary to meet energy saving and GHG reduction goals.

Abstract: City is a kind of synthetic system, which is composed of social, economic and environmental aspects, how to achieve a sustainable development is an important problem for most cities in the world. This paper made a literature review from the composite index method, urban metabolism method and system dynamics method to summary and analysis the urban sustainable development evaluation of existing method. The composite index method is the most concise approach and easy to understand, urban metabolism method can observe the operation of whole city subsystems dynamically, while system dynamics method truly simulates the relationship among city subsystems.

Abstract: Resource is the foundation of the people to survive and develop. It promotes the development of national economy. Because of rich resources of the energy-based cities, the effects on the environment in the process of exploration are extremely obvious, and promoting the resource-based urban development in the direction of low carbon has become the strategic choice. Based on the concept of low carbon, starting from definition of the resource-based city, through the comprehensive analysis of the present situation of the resource-based city in our country, forming the new path of the construction of new type resource-based city with Chinese characteristics, this text will dig out the low carbon potential of the resource-based city to the uttermost.
