Abstract: The main factors affecting the drying process of RDX and the optimum drying conditions were investigated through single factor test and response surface methodology, the optimal drying conditions were gained. The results show that moisture content, vacuum, temperature are important factors in the drying process of RDX, the significance of main influencing factors is: temperature> vacuum> moisture content, the suggested drying condition is: 80°C for temperature, 0.05MPa for vacuum, 10% for moisture content.

Abstract: The chemical oxidation of p-cymene was preliminarily studied by several oxidants. The conversion of p-cymene and selectivity of p-cymen-8-ol were both influenced by the factors such as dosage of oxidant, dosage of sulphuric acid, reaction time, reaction temperature and solvent variety. The reasonable oxidation conditions were molar ratio of p-cymene to potassium permanganate 1:3, molar ratio of sulphuric acid to potassium permanganate 0.13:1, mixture of water and acetic acid (1:1, v/v) as solvent, reaction temperature 80 °C and reaction time 9 h. The conversion of p-cymene and selectivity of p-cymen-8-ol were respectively 92.21 % and 69.65 % in the reasonable oxidation conditions. The by-products of p-cymene oxidation mainly included p-iso-propyl benzoic acid, p-isopropyl benzaldehyde and p-methyl acetophenone.

Abstract: The continuous casting technologies of the new square/round billet continuous caster in Panzhihua Steel have been studied. And on this basis, the effect of process parameters of primary cooling, mold powder, secondary cooling and electromagnetic stirring (EMS) on billet quality is investigated. With these studies, the continuous casting process is optimized, and the quality of square/round billet is improved as well. Comprehensive technologies for quality control of square/round billet in Panzhihua Steel have been proposed. The results of industrial tests show that the accept rate of surface quality for square billet is 98.44%, and that is 97.42% for round billet; the comprehensive rate below level 1.0 of internal defects of center porosity, center segregation and center cracks is more than 97%, and carbon segregation index is in the range of 0.93~1.09. The quality of square/round billet can meet the requirement of consumers absolutely.

Abstract: The samples of cold-rolled sheets, hot-rolled plates and continuously cast slabs have been analyzed with the condition of faint-sliver defects appeared in IF steel of Pangang, and it was shown that faint-sliver defects in cold-rolled steel sheet were mainly caused by micro-cracks in the surface of strands, slag entrapment in mold during casting and inclusions in sub-surface of strand. Faint-sliver defects were controlled effectively with the technical measures, which were decreasing oxidation of ladle slag, controlling the ratio of CaO/Al2O3 in slag, extending circulation time of deoxidization and alloying in RH process, controlling the casting speed and increasing the viscosity of mold fluxes. Therefore, the ratio of downgrade induced by faint-sliver defects reduced from 10.97% to 1.0%.

Abstract: The color-lightening of rosin was achieved to give light-colored and qualified rosin that was improved at the optimal conditions for 4 Gardner color grades, while rosin was treated at 180 ~ 270 °C for 1 ~ 4 h in inert gases. The color of rosin was deepened slightly at the initial, and then gradual lightened with the increase of treating temperature. The best color-lightening effect was observed from Pinus massoniana rosin. The acid number and softening point of rosin tended to decrease both accompanying with the color-lightening. According to a general consideration on main requirements such as color, acid number, softening point and the others, the suitable treating conditions for rosin color-lightening were suggested to be as temperature 240 ~ 260 °C and time 1 ~ 3 h.

Abstract: Iron oxide sorbent was prepared from red mud and the regeneration behaviors were investigated in a fixed bed reactor. Regeneration parameters including temperature and concentration of oxygen have been considered in order to obtain a suitable regeneration condition. XRD and SEM techniques were used to characterize the fresh and regenerated sorbents. The experimental results show that the sulfided sorbent could be regenerated efficiently using a gas composition of 2% O2-15% H2O- balance N2, at the temperature of 700 °C.

Abstract: In this paper, potential analysis method was applied to study the effects of pH value and temperature on potential and reducing capacity of thiourea dioxide, and the reactivity between thiourea dioxide and reactive dyes as ground shade dyes under simulated printing steaming conditions in aqueous solution was also investigated. The results showed that thiourea dioxide’s reduction potential increased with the rise of pH value and temperature. when temperature was lower than 60 °C, thiourea dioxide had low reactivity with reactive dyes as ground shade dyes, and when temperature was up to 80 °C, thiourea dioxide began to break reactive dyes, which was in accordance with the reduction potential change rule of thiourea dioxide along with temperature.

Abstract: In the normal pressure and presence of catalyst, a novel composite modified starch or functional surfactant was synthesized by using the cassava starch as the main feedstock through the alkalization, etherification and oxidation etc.. The degree of substitution was up to 1.21. Based on the orthogonal experiment and computer-aid methods, the optimum conditions were resulted as follows: the mass fractions(vs. dry starch) of chloroacetic acid, catalyst and oxidant were 32%, 0.01% and 1.14% respectively, and the reaction temperature of etherification was at 50°C for 4.1h. The structural characterization of the composite modified starch was determined by IR and X-ray diffraction.
