Abstract: Through overview of the western planning decision-making history underlying in urban planning theories and methods in 20th century, this paper introduces an increasingly perfect methodology or tool for inclusive planning which can benefit to admit various interest groups when facing the tough debates in urban renewal. By using space syntax technique, it based on the integration with algebraic graph theory, computer science and GIS techniques, the interests of all parties group even including ordinary citizens can intuitively understand planning procedures and predicted results. Therefore, from the perspective of inclusive participation planning, the method of space syntax presents a communicative interface to represent various proposals and solutions. In addition, in order to further to explain the application of space syntax, the case presentations such as King’s Cross area of London are also introduced.

Abstract: It is new important task that urban design theory leads into small town planning. However there are less practice cases in domestic field. Lack of small town planning is mainly as follows: weak of town unique characteristic, little urban space form design, lack of Building group design. So this paper introduces urban design in the town planning field, gradually put forward small town design principle, its type, its different design stage, and its main design content with Chinese characteristics. According to explore urban design, the paper presents results extends the method to divide town design: regional town design, the general town design & detailed town design. Furthermore the article advance the key problem of studying town design theory and have a case application of Hang Zhou city Long Gang downtown design.

Abstract: The construction of “roadway connecting every village” and township roads facilities have played a huge promoting role to the development of villages. However, at the same time of bringing prosperity to the villages, the “roadside economy” has also brought a series of traffic and environmental impact issues. The emergence of “roadside villages” has turned out to be the “cancer” of township development. This paper takes the rural areas of the central and western regions as the main object to study the roadside village phenomenon and its problems, and explores the soft conditions of the villages to search for a win-win mode to achieve both transportation advantages and village development.

Abstract: with the process of city development, the development of architecture faces many complex problems. Beijing Charter proposed architectural development strategy in five aspects. Seizing the main parts in relation to architecture, this article analyzes and discusses three major relationships related to the construction of human settlements and the work should be done through understanding the connotation of architectural development strategy and thinking

Abstract: Urban development is facing the problems, such as the scarcity of resources of urban space and the deterioration of urban ecological environment, the theory of Three-dimensional city is an effective way to solve the urban problems. Through introducing the developed process and advantages of three-dimensional city, the necessity and targeting of three-dimensional city can be summarized, meanwhile, the major strategies of three-dimensional city are emphasized:enhancing the legislative exploration of three-dimensional city; constructing three-dimensional traffic system of city; promoting the construction of complex of city and especially highlighting the application of ecological technology in the process of three-dimensional city.

Abstract: Development and exploit of underground space is an important direction for future urban development, in a certain extent, exploit underground space could alleviate the modern urban’s contradictions such as land, traffic jam and so on. The exploit of underground space involves the rational distribution of the natural resources, construction technology, costs, and many other factors[1]. This topic use the Analytic Hierarchy Process defines the weight of the topography, stratigraphic structure, formation stability, groundwater depth, and the other 15 factors which impact the exploit of underground space, and then use the gray mathematical theory to calculate the Correlation Degree between evaluation index and suitable levels. Finally, based on the GIS map, numerical each evaluation index, and then use the integrate superimposed way obtained the Suitability zoning map of Shijiazhuang Zhengding newly-developed area, this zoning map has important guiding significance for construction projects, especially for the plan, design, exploit and construction about underground space.

Abstract: This paper firstly analyzes the present situation of carbon emissions and points out the proportion of traffic carbon emissions will be larger, then presents the urban planning strategies of reducing traffic carbon emissions. The macroscopic level should build compact city layout, efficient traffic conversion and perfect network structure; The medium level should implement the traffic organization of bus priority and suitable mixed land for walking; The microscopic level should organize TOD community for transit orient.

Abstract: The Lanzhou City construction space and transportation network have obviously changed. Lanzhou city’s terrain is that the Yellow River crossing two mountains caused the valley very long and narrow. So with the subsequent traffic congestion, effective measures should be taken to expand city spaces and to improve traffic network. Only with this, Lanzhou City could be developed fast and shape a unique city identity. Through analysis of the city topographic features and spatial layout, this paper outlines several ideas on city planning of Lanzhou.

Abstract: On the basis of pointing out the fact that traditional rainwater infrastructure planning and construction has always ignored the feature of rain as resources, this paper clarified the significance of reconstructing the rainwater infrastructure system. According to their rainfall characteristics, Chinese cities can be divided into three geographically different kinds, Different methods are provided for each kind. This paper also analyzes a new rainwater infrastructure system in arid and semiarid areas, with rain garden as its core infiltration facility.

Abstract: This paper focuses on the thermal environment in an old urban block called Water Street in Nanning. Based on the field investigation, measurement data of ten selected points and related research data, we analyzed the thermal environment especially in negative spaces. The purpose of this study is to provide a theory basis for understanding characteristics of negative spaces, regenerating their vitality and improving spatial comfort.
