Abstract: The expressway intelligent traffic control system based on S7-200 series Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) was introduced in this paper.PLC has strong adaptability in the complex environment and rich internal timer resources, it is easily to realize accuracy controlling the traffic lights, specially for multi-crossroads.PLC analyzed and processed the signals of the body flow, speed, vehicle size and other data by the sense coil, then transmitting the information to the host computer. The host computer might automatically adjust the length of time from the final signal to achieve intelligent scientific management of traffic lights.

Abstract: Most traffic accidents occur at unsignalized intersections, mainly due to inappropriate behavior of non-priority vehicles. The authors have developed an advanced Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) system with GPS/GIS to provide warning to stop failure vehicles at unsignalized intersections. In this study, experiments related to driver attitudes toward stop sign warning were carried out. At a drivers training course, drivers attitudes were tested using a vehicle equipped with the warning system in order to ascertain appropriate timing of warnings when approaching intersections. The drivers evaluation and willingness-to-pay for the warning system were also analyzed using an interview survey answered by testers.

Abstract: With the development of modern social economy, the number of vehicles in China is growing rapidly, so how to get real-time traffic parameters has a very important significance in using the limited road space, vehicle video detection method based on image processing develop rapidly. With the improvement of image processing technology and microprocessor performance, makes video-based traffic parameter detection using universal. This paper deals with the real-time traffic video, gets each frame, uses Gaussian filter denoising, marks the region of interest (ROI), apply background subtraction algorithm based on average method, get the binarization foreground image, set threshold to eliminate the moving objects whose area is too small, check the boundary of ROI to judge the moving vehicle and counting, get the results as parameters of the intelligent transportation.

Abstract: Highway network is the most important transportation facility, informatization is the effictive method to improve the management level of highway network. With GIS, highway network spatial database was built, the process include set the spatial mathmetics foundation, design the structure of database, process the spatial data, build the topological relation and process the property data. And two example of the highway network spatial database application was provided, one is spatial analysis, and the other is traffic information service on internet.

Abstract: As the changing situations of the traffics, according to demanded traffic speed and the distance between two adjacent intersections, a multi-scheme continuous entrance system is taken. The method determine an appropriate time difference in order that vehicles travel in appropriate speed will continuous meet the green lights cross by cross. Furthermore, studies on linear coordinated intersection signal control is the basis of research of area traffic signal control.

Abstract: The conventional statistical models have their limitations in modeling the natural human driving behavior. This may be overcome by applying fuzzy set based approach to describe drivers decisions. This paper proposes a fuzzy set based car-following model to simulate the driving maneuver. Emphasis is placed on the research undertaken to establish fuzzy sets and systems and model validation. Research results have shown that the fuzzy set application is very encouraging.

Abstract: Numerous strategies for optimizing vehicle route based on genetic algorithm (GA) have been put forward. However there is still much room for improvement despite the existing experiment results. In this paper, significant improvement of traditional genetic algorithm is achieved, dealing with discrete vehicle route optimization. In view of multi-client points equally distributing around logistics centre, initial group optimization being performed, crossover probability being decreased, mutation probability being improved, chromosome calculation being simplified, optimization being accelerated and genetic performance quantity is reduced. All this offers powerful support to genetic algorithm for multi client points.

Abstract: This paper presents an investigation of the effects of rainfall with different levels of precipitation intensity on urban expressway travel time under free-flow speed conditions. The traffic data and corresponding weather data from the expressway section of Longyang in Shanghai for more than one year were used. Statistical analysis was applied to investigate the effects of rainfall on travel time quantitatively. There are two major contributions of this paper. Firstly, four levels of rainfall have varying degrees of significant impacts on travel time in terms of average travel time. Slight rain has no influence on variability of travel time, while heavier rain increases the variability. Secondly, three travel time stochastic models: Normal, Lognormal and Weibull, were proposed. The Lognormal model is the best-fit model under good weather, slight and moderate rainfall conditions, while both Weibull model and Lognormal model are the preferable models under heavy rain and rainstorm conditions. The recommended Lognormal model can be further used for evaluating the performance of the Longyang expressway section in terms of travel time reliability under good weather, slight rain, moderate rain, heavy rain and rainstorm conditions respectively.

Abstract: In this paper, according to three major elements of road network "the collection of nodes, sections and the weight of road, established a combination model of static and dynamic of urban network based on graph theory. The model used the shortest travel time as the objective function for optimal path planning, focused on the analysis of link travel time, travel time is divided into free travel time of sections and intersection delay time to discuss and study. Finally, the Floyd algorithm was used to simulate this network model, in order to prove the effectiveness of the network model.

Abstract: The urban-rural integration is an effective way to eliminate the urban-rural dual structure, and narrow the gaps between urban and rural areas. Planning and construction of rail transportation should be emphasized in order to promote the process of urbanization in metropolitan areas and meet or guide the demands of free flow of urban and rural elements. Based on the analysis of rail transportation which is an important driving force of urban-rural integration development of metropolitan areas in details, the article discusses mass rail transportation planning and construction in metropolitan area choosing Xi'an metropolis as an example, and evaluates the rail transportation implementation performance oriented by the urban-rural integration, aiming to better guide planning and implementation of rail transportation in urban and rural areas, as well as to provide references for other regions in China.
