Abstract: The bone substation grafts, such as hydroxyapatite, TCP, have been used in the clinical. But it is found that they are not capable of enhancing bone regeneration due to their poor osteoinductive compared with allograft and autograft. In order to increase the osteoinductive, bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) has highlighted to incorporate into a three dimensional reservoir. The purpose of the present study was to develop a novel drug delivery system with the capability of controlled releasing BMP-2. In this study, BMP-2/Chitosan (CS) microspheres were succeeded loaded on the deproteinized bovine bone (DBB) scaffold. The release profile of BMP-2 study indicated an initial burst release followed by a sustained release. In vitro bioactivity assay revealed that the encapsulated growth factor was biologically active as evidenced by cell culture. Therefore, the novel strategy of this microspheres-scaffold system is potentially to utilize the bone tissue engineered.

Abstract: Hydrogen sulfide is a typical toxic, inflammable gas. The detection of H2S is crucial in the areas of oil, natural gas and so on. However, studies on H2S gas sensors at room temperature were seldom reported. In this study, Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors have been utilized, and PVP film were prepared on the QCM by airbrush method with different airbrush volume for H2S detection. The results showed that the PVP film with airbrush volume 0.2ml exhibited a better sensing response to H2S gas. Besides, sensitive characteristics parameters, i.e. selectivity, stability, linearity and sensitivity of prepared sensors were studied for comparison. The relative sensing mechanism associated with SEM pictures was studied as well.

Abstract: Coal liquefaction is a conversion processes which coal generates liquid hydrocarbon and little gas hydrocarbon by its catalytic hydrogenation. Nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur and other heteroatoms were removed from coal at the same time. Coal liquefaction is not only conducive to improve the utilization of coal resources, but also would ease China's oil tense situation. Improve the conversion efficiency of coal is the focus of coal liquefaction research, and the influence factor on coal liquefaction rate were discussed in this paper. It mainly related to coal type, coal petrographic macerals and catalysts.

Abstract: Apple Snails is a snail-like animal. Being snail-like animals recognized as an edible aquatic animal and widely employed in traditional Chinese medicine, this study intends to reveal pharmacological potential of Apple Snails polysaccharide. Crude soluble polysaccharide of Apple Snails was first extracted using the hot water extraction and ethanol precipitation method. And the crude polysaccharide was purified successively using the Sevag method. After purification we found that and apple snails is rich in polysaccharide and the total polysaccharide content can reach to 68.4%. Using Fenton reactions, we found that antioxidant potential efficiency of apple snails polysaccharide is dose-dependent and can reach to 83.77% at the concentration of 5 mg/mL. Importantly, apple snails polysaccharide can efficiently inhibit lung cancer cell line A-549 proliferation in vitro and over 50% cell was killed in the dose of 200 mg/ml at 24 hours post treatment, implying that apple snails polysaccharide is a potential anti-tumor candidate.

Abstract: The clarify fruit juice has the characteristics of clear bright and current commercially available in the beverage industry and international trade market. Chitosan clarification method has the compatibility, complete degradation and degradation metabolites of low toxicity and good biological and is widely used in juice production in the fruit and vegetable clarification. Some research shows that factors affecting the results of juice clarification are chitosan dosage, temperature, time, solution of pH, the molecular weight of chitosan solution viscosity size.Chitosan used in fruit juice processing could clarify fruit juice, but also had the characteristics of gel in the juice stored, and could maintain the original freshness of fruit juice. Bentonite, zeolite, maifan stone, such as the load with chitosan applied to fruit juice clarification, the amount of random factors difficulty to control can be avoided. Caroxymethyl chitosan used in blackberry juice processing the content of protein, polyphenol in juice reduced more than the chitosan treatment. It was good to prevent turbidity during storage or secondary precipitation.

Abstract: Studies were carried out on the decolorization of Direct Red 28 (DR) and Direct Yellow 12 (DY) by developed bacterial consortium. Effects of pH, temperature, and NaCl concentrations on degradation were studied. GC-MS was used to detect the intermediates produced in the effluents of anaerobic step. The optimum pH and temperature for the degradation of DR and DY were pH 7 and 6, and 37°Cand 45°C, respectively. We observed the peak of benzenamine in GC-MS analysis. The products formed during the reduction of DY12 were benzenamine and 2-Amino-1-hydroxybenzene. The results showed a complete degradation of DY12 by the bacterial consortium.

Abstract: Six purple corn grains were chosen to investigate their antioxidant activities and the relationships between anthocyanins and phenolics contents with antioxidant activities. Purple grains were screened for their antioxidant potentials using various in-vitro models such as superoxide anion radical scavenging activity and reducing power at various concentrations. The result showed that ZS39 and FS11 exhibited the highest anthocyanins and total phenolics contents. ZS39 and FS11 also exhibited the highest superoxide anion radical scavenging activity. There was no significant difference among the reducing power of six different purple corn grain extracts. It was found that there were positive correlations between anthocyanins and superoxide anion radical scavenging activity or reducing power, R2=0.9911, R2=0.9873, respectively. Whereas the correlations between total phenolics and superoxide anion radical scavenging activity or reducing power, R2=0.9863, R2=0.9826, respectively. It suggested that purple corn appeared to be a rich and interesting source of natural antioxidants.

Abstract: To investigate if resveratrol prevent the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening through inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). Methods: Rat heart tissue-derived cardiac H9c2 myoblast cell line was cultured. Fluorescence images of mitochondrial membrane potential were obtained with confocal microscopy. Western blotting analyzes the ERS marker protein GRP78 expression. Transmission electron microscopy detects the subcellular structure. Results: Exposure of cardiac H9c2 cells to 100 μM 2-DG, the ERS inducer, for 20 min caused a marked decrease in mitochondrial specific tetramethylrhodamine ethyl ester (TMRE) fluorescence. Resveratrol significantly prevented the loss of TMRE fluorescence. Western blotting revealed that resveratrol decreased GRP78 expression. Experiments with transmission electron microscopy revealed that resveratrol prevented 2-DG-induced swelling of endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondrial damages. Conclusions: These data suggest that inhibition of ERS leads to the prevention of mPTP opening. Resveratrol prevents the mPTP opening through inhibition of ERS.
