Abstract: The balance between economic growth and environmental protection has been the core concern of policy makers in developing countries for the past two decades. This study is one of the few studies to empirically inspect the relationship between economic growth, FDI, and energy consumption over the period 1978-2010 in China. The results reveal that there is a unidirectional Granger causality running from GDP to energy consumption. This suggests that increase of GDP will consume more energy and implementing of the energy conservation policies and energy demand management policies in China may not have negative impact on economic growth. Besides, a bi-directional Granger causality has been found between energy consumption and FDI. This implies that Chinese government should cautiously evaluate the positive and negative effects of FDI inflows and put efforts into making more effective control policies on environmental protection.

Abstract: This study focuses on the influence of holding international mega sports events towards the cognition of economic, social-cultural, and environmental impact for residents. Research subjects of this study were residents age 18 to 65 and living in the Kaohsiung area where the 2009 Kaohsiung World Games was held. A total of 437 effective questionnaires were obtained. Results from this study showed that (1) there was significance between different genders in the cognitions of positive economic impact, the positive as well as negative social-cultural impact, and the positive as well as negative environmental impact; (2) there was significance with different age groups in the cognitions of positive as well as negative economic impact, the positive as well as negative social-cultural impact, and the negative environmental impact; (3) there was significance with different residency spans in the cognitions of positive as well as negative economic, social-cultural, and environmental impact; (4) residents are clearly in support of holding major sports events again in the future.

Abstract: Coordinating the relationship between economic development and ecological protection, a series of complex tests have been given to many governments, especialy in ecotone. taking Dalate County for example, the ecological characteristics and the situation economic development are evaluated by an improved ecological footprint model, which is based on emergy analysis theory and ecosystem service function model. The calculating results indicate that the ecological footprint of Dalate County is 3.9×106hm2 in total annualy, the actual output ecological capacity is 2.04×106hm2. There is a huge gap between ecological footprint and ecological capacity. The total ecosystem services value is 1.01×1010 CNY•a. And among all types land, woodland contributes the greatest, which is 4.19×109 CNY•a. Among all kinds service, regulation service take the largest proportion, which value is 5.53×109 CNY•a. Those results can be used to guide ecological protection and economic development in ecotones, like Dalate County in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Abstract: This paper uses the concept of environment rent philosophy to explain rationale for government taxation and principles of taxation, and uses mathematical models to specifically discuss practical problems of government pollution taxation under this philosophy. The model provides mathematical equations for optimal decision-making by consumers, producers, and government and analyzes the impact of changes in taxation rates on the three parties.

Abstract: This paper explores the environmental dispute settlement mechanisms (EDSM) in China. By the analysis of China's legal system concerned and the status quo of EDSM, it can be concluded that this mechanisms include reconciliation, mediation, administrative handling, arbitration and litigation.

Abstract: With the method of co-integration, the relationships between GDP and the total water use from 1980 to 2009 in the Weihe River basin are studied. The results show that there is a co-integration relation with a long time between GDP and the total water use.

Abstract: In order to build “Culture-enriched Beijing, science and technology Beijing, green city of Beijing” and aim for world cities, the government of Beijing putting in a lot of money to support the ecological environmental protection as the main features of the eco-industrial development, and the city is divided into four functional areas, including the core area of the capital function, Urban Fringe’s Sustainable Development, urban development zone, ecological conservation area, ecological conservation area mainly in the suburbs of Beijing. At present, how to Implement the ecological function and maintain rapid growth in economy of Ecological Conservation Area to guarantee economic health, balanced, sustainable development is a serious problem. This article discusses the approach of "Kyoto Protocol" carbon trading and put forward the implementation of Carbon sequestration economy to solve the contradiction of ecosystem conservation and economic development in Beijing mountain area, by this way we can provide some ideas to construct “Culture-enriched Beijing, science and technology Beijing, green city of Beijing”

Abstract: Based on the input-output life cycle assessment method, the embodied energy consumption, air and water emissions of China's international trade in 2007 were estimated. The results showed that the embodied energy consumption of China's international trade in 2007 is up to 229.04 Mt, accounting for 8.62% of total energy consumption. The embodied Chemical Oxygen Demand, Ammonia Nitrogen, Sulfur Dioxide and Dust emissions caused by net exports accounted for 9.85%, 9.11%, 6.71% and 0.78% of the overall emissions in China, respectively. China’s export promoted energy consumptions and pollutant emissions significantly. Therefore, China should adjust its export strategy and structure to reverse the adverse effects on energy and environment caused by exportation.

Abstract: Recently, the problem of environmental pollution has become the main obstacle that restricts the regional economic development. Shandong is an economically strong province of China. The government of Shandong must pay attention to the relationship between economic growth and environmental protection, if we want to achieve the sustainable economic development and build a harmonious society better and faster. This article is based on the Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis. We have collected the GDP per capita and three types of waste emissions of 1981-2009 in Shandong province related data. Then we found the relationship between the economic growth and various pollutants by using regression analysis method, so as to provide the government with theoretical guidance for formulating environmental protection policies.
