Abstract: This study conducted 3-dimensional grouping of shoulder shapes based on the feature points of the neck and shoulder by using 3-dimensional technologies. The study first extracted four feature points on the shoulders using the Pyramid method and formed a pyramid, and then projected them on tangent planes on the x-, y- and z-axis. This step was followed by an analysis of 45 measurements, including the angles and distances between the vertexes of the projected pyramid. The factor analysis of the measurements found out five major factors. The explanatory power of the factors was 92.29 percent.

Abstract: Design Factors of product-family is one of the important elements to maintain and to improve customers’ loyalty to a band. Extraction of design factors of product family based on customer needs promotes relations between brands and customers while improves satisfaction to products of the consumers. In existing studies, methods of getting customer needs have always attracted close attention. But the links between customer needs and design factors have not been adequately studied. By using QFD (Quality Function Deployment) and increasing the number of cascaded transformation hierarchies of the House of Quality, the method of extracting design factors of product family is proposed in this paper.

Abstract: In order to research the work status of steel package rotation table beam and tumbler, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire software was adopted on establishing the three dimensions model of steel package rotation table beam and tumbler. ANSYS software was adopted on strength finite element analysis of steel package rotation table beam and tumbler under carrying 370 tons liquid steel package. Relative displacement figure, stress figure and strain figure were obtained. Relative distribution rules of displacement, stress and strain were found. Strain and stress on key positions of steel package rotation table beam were tested and analyzed. The relative error between tested value and finite element numerical simulation results of strain and stress on steel package rotation table beam was computed and analyzed. The method of combining finite element numerical simulation and test research provides important reference basis on the improvement of steel package rotation table.

Abstract: Applying fuzzy information axiom in product concept design, the evaluation method for design schemes based on fuzzy information axiom was built and the insufficient of estimation in qualitative indexes was overcome. Actual membership function curve was selected conform to different index types, and fuzzy language of qualitative indexes is numerical. Through computing information content of each product scheme, the optimal scheme was selected with the unified metrics. The model was applied in scheme evaluation of handling equipment in stereo garage and its effectiveness was verified. Meanwhile, the optimal design scheme of handling equipment in vertical rotary stereo garage was obtained and the theoretical foundation was provided for handing equipment.

Abstract: For the vibration and noise of conventional axial-flow pumps being oppressive, a new electromechanical axial-flow pump with advantages of small vibration and noise had been designed, which integrated the impeller into drive electromotor by combining the rotor of motor and the blade of impeller. The new electromechanical axial-flow pump not only had small size and high efficiency, but also can greatly reduce vibration and noise by taking off the drive axis of pump. Performance tests had been done for the pump and results showed that the efficiency and head were very close to design value. Vibration and noise tests had also been done, results showed that vibration acceleration levels on the feet of pump base could be less than 110dB and airborne noise levels could be less than 75dB, which would be smaller than conventional axial-flow pumps.

Abstract: Proposing the product design method based on innovative materials technology aim to play better the potential of materials’ application and to grasp the future trends of new products development. Combined with the recent typical innovative product cases to demonstrate four innovation design methods: reference, package and adhesion, superposition and integration, variation. These innovation methods’ applications indicate broader prospects of materials’ use that transformed from the state of “material”, the vision and touch of the “quality”, and it also play a positive role in new product development.

Abstract: The fast moving consumer goods included a wide range of items. The basic characteristics of the fast moving consumer goods result in that the consumers’ buying habit is: simple, rapid, impulsive, emotional. In the trend of market segmentation, enterprises have to make the products respond quickly to design and manufacture under the premise of meeting functions. In the design process, designers find out design point by axiomatic design method, and then through a modular design, rapidly assemble the various elements thereby to design series of products with distinctive features in batch, so as to help enterprises to extend the product life cycle.

Abstract: Mechanical products design process always focuses on the description of product structure information, while lacking of the expression and application of function and knowledge information. This paper proposes an intelligent design approach of mechanical products based on Function-Knowledge-Structure (FKS). The gene coding of function, knowledge and structure are constructed, and the correlation matrix of the Functional-Structure (FS) and Knowledge-Structure (KS) are introduced to calculate the fitness function. A case study of the conceptual design on bag forming, filling and sealing machine shows the intelligent design process based on FKS.

Abstract: Large-scale air separation equipment is used widely in chemical industry. It can provide oxygen, nitrogen and argon for the production process. Based on the deep analysis of the working principle and using equipment, the air separation unit product data management (PDM) system is developed by Visual Basic (VB) in this paper develops. The modularized design procedure and grouping technique (GT) are adopted in this system. The morphological matrix is used to establish their coordination relationship among parts. The system has many characters, such as perfect function, reasonable database structure, and concise software interface layout. Optimizing equipment parts management properly and effectively has important practical significance in designing the subsequent product development work and establishing concurrent design environment of the air separation unit.

Abstract: Torlerance design is one of the most important part in product development, which can affect the quality of product. In order to improve the quality of the products and design robustness, this paper developed an efficient torlerance robust design method on base of the Taguchi Theory. The lossing of fuzzy quality is used to modeling the quality of product, the cost and quality are modeled as optimization objective to finish the torlerrance robust design. An example is also studied to verify the effectiveness of the method.
