Abstract: Investigation of fire accidents is a primary and imperative procedure for human disaster prevention. It engages with the development on the planning program for disaster preventive-remedy and salvage in a city (or a county), and helps to mitigate this calamity effectively in the future, even for a nation. In this study, we investigated and analyzed fire accidents for one of typical rural areas in Asia–Yunlin county, Taiwan, from January, 2003 to August, 2005. This study deals with the statistical data from the Fire-Fighting Department, Yunlin county, Taiwan, including the frequency/probability, potential hazard grades of fire cases within its 20 administrative divisions, and fire occurrence causes, locations, times, divisions, etc., along with comprehensive surveys on the property damage and casualties in Yunlin county during these years. The analytical outcomes indicated that the higher the population concentration (Douliou city, Huwei town, Siluo town and Beigang town), the greater the probability for fire disasters for Yunlin county. This study could help develop corresponding strategies of fire prevention for an agricultural county and even promulgate related regulations to avoid future fire mishaps.

Abstract: In order to calculate the dissipating capacity of heat sources and improve the veracity of airflow temperature forecast of mine, the equivalent heat transfer coefficient of mine goaf was calculated by means of inverse arithmetic based on the law of conservation of momentum and measured data from a high temperature working face. The results of calculation show that the equivalent heat transfer coefficient of mine goaf can reflect the heat dissipating characteristics generally and reduce the calculating method of the heat dissipating capacity of mine goaf, then it can be used better in the airflow temperature forecast.

Abstract: A simplified theoretical model about the impact energy and maximum deflection was acquired based on the principle of virtual work while clamped beam subjected to low velocity impact. Finite element simulations have been undertaken to further understand the response of the clamped beam, the results show that: A good agreement has been obtained between theoretical model and numerical results, the dynamic response of the clamped beam is divided into four stages: elastic fluctuation, the overall structural response, unloading response and free vibration, the formation of plastic hinge occurred in the overall structural response stage.

Abstract: There are lots of theories and methods about condition assessment for highway bridge, and gradual perfection for normal-speed railway bridge, but only little for high-speed railway bridge, especially large-span and special structures. After studying on the contents, methods, theories and evaluation indexes of highway bridge and normal-speed railway bridge, combined with the characteristics of high-speed railway bridge, index system for high-speed railway bridge(medium and small span, large-span or special bridge structures) was conceived and discussed, which laid the foundation for the development of condition assessment of high-speed railway bridge.

Abstract: This paper describes work that has been done on an innovative use of a steel chain as a cable in chain ropeway system developed for use in the mountain orchards of china. This work focuses on the use of Msc Adams in describing the quasi static behavior of the configuration of the chain ropeway. A model was built in solid works and then transferred to Msc Adams which was used to predict the profile of the chain and the tension for various loads. From this study it has been shown that Msc Adams can be a valuable tool in solving problems related to the quasi static and equilibrium state of the chain rope way system and getting an in depth behavior of its dynamics. There is now a foundation to proceed on the dynamic investigation of the chain ropeway system.

Abstract: The shortcomings of the BP algorithm are analyzed, and a text classification algorithm based on rough-GA-BP is constructed by combining the genetic algorithm with the rough sets theory. This algorithm reduces the data of the text input vector by the data reduction method based on rough sets theory, and presenting a genetic algorithm approach for feature selection. Experimental results indicate this method is more effective than traditional methods.

Abstract: Several lower extremity exoskeletal systems have been developed for augmentation purpose. Common actuators, have important drawbacks such as complexity, and poor torque capacities. The main scope of this research is to propose a series elastic actuator for lower extremity exoskeletal system which was designed based on muscle functional analysis. For this purpose, a biomechanical framework consisting of a musculoskeletal model with ten degrees-of-freedom actuated by eighteen Hill-type musculotendon actuators per leg is utilized to perform the muscle functional analysis for common daily human activities. The simulation study illustrated functional differences between flexor and extensor muscles and the results were utilized for efficient design of the series elastic torque actuator employed in lower extremity exoskeletons.

Abstract: This paper is focused on the human factors and assessment methods at workplace firstly. Then the human factors are analysed and evaluated to quantized by Analytic Hierarchy Process and Entropy method. On that basis, the multicriteria quantizing model is build, at last the human factors at piston production line as an example is given. According to the result of model, it provides a scientific evidence to make the human factors in difference processes perfect: improving operating efficiency, optimizing working posture.
