Abstract: This paper describes a new perspective to consider and quantify uncertainty in construction schedules. In the study, a methodology was presented by modeling construction project scheduling using event chains, classification of the events and event chains, identification of critical events, analysis of effect of the events on project duration, and chance of project completion. To demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed methodology, a real airport terminal example is provided. Moreover, schedule risk analysis system and risk break down structure are also developed as an essential part.

Abstract: Standardization system of government supervision organizations for construction quality is standardized work procedures, standardized code of conduct and standardized system based on normalized working behavior, working process, working content, decision-making procedures, implementation measures and work results of government supervisory organizations for construction quality. Standardization system of supervision and decision-making is an important way to make government supervisory organizations for construction quality scientific, effective and authoritative. Not only does it require standardization of supervision decision, it also needs standardization of its support system and results form, videlicet, the expression standardization of supervision results and assessment standardization of performance evaluation. The essence of the expression standardization of supervision results is standardization of supervision files, unification of supervision and inspection forms, modeling of supervision information processing and sharing, formatted supervision report form and standardized of supervision conclusion expression; assessment standardization of performance evaluation includes comprehensive of performance evaluation on supervision, science of management evaluation on supervision market and dynamic of latter appraised on supervision project.

Abstract: The aim of the work is to investigate the method of modeling of the UWB GPR for reinforced concrete quality test. Several very important techniques which are ideal for UWB GPR, such as Higher-Order Finite-Difference Time-Domain (HOFDTD), absorbing boundary conditions of Convolution Perfectly Matched Layer (CPML), SGS, signal of pulse train modulated by pseudo random codes and etc. are discussed. Numerical experimental results clearly show that the methods described in this article is much better than traditional ones, and prospecting depth and horizontal vertical resolution of the UWB GPR based on the techniques above all are superior to that of normal GPR. It must receive very good results to use the UWB GPR for reinforced concrete quality inspection in projects.

Abstract: Versatile and high effciency, the urban complex is an intergrated building combining with more than three functions of urban life such as hotel, housing, working, park, commerce, meeting center. As for risk identification, it is the foundation of risk management, and the reference of risk assessment, prevention, monitoring and management. This paper used risk management theory to identify the risk factors of the urban complex, and then established a system of risk factors, hoping to pave the way for the risk evaluation of the urban complex’s development.

Abstract: In order to understand the security situation in the process of coal lane tunneling project effectively, this paper determines the safety evaluation indicators according to the actual situation in the coal lane tunneling, and then combining the indicators using grey relation analysis to evaluate the security situation of the sample coal lane tunneling projects. The evaluation method is simple, and compares the security situation of the various coal lane tunneling projects, so it can provide a reliable basis for the safety evaluation of the coal lane tunneling projects.

Abstract: The construction drawing is a design document by which each construction party should abide. It is also a key element to affect construction project quality. So in the stage of supervision, the important thing that management engineers must grasp is blueprint-auditing. They should grasp the auditing principle, auditing method, auditing content and results, through which the problems existed among design, construction, process, engineering materials, equipments, etc. as well as those in each profession can be timely discovered. Through which, most design problems can be resolved before construction and the quality accident can be removed at its initial point. As a result, the construction time and cost can be saved a lot.

Abstract: The increasing complexity of construction projects as a common trend has had a significant impact on management maturity assessment and improvement for the project participating units, especially for the owners’ Project Management Office (PMO). While most maturity models are rationalistic, this paper presents a practical complex construction project management maturity model based on project management three-dimensional perspective. Integrating Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3) and Best Practices (BPs) derived from 2010 Shanghai Expo practice, this case-based maturity model is constituted by three sub-models: PBS Maturity, Process Maturity and Organization System Maturity. The model uses structured questionnaire consisting of BPs to implement assessment. The proportion of BPs achieved is considered as the maturity level of assessment objectives. Shanghai Expo AB Area is used to test the validity of the model. The result shows that owners’ PMO can assess and improve their project management maturity with the model effectively.

Abstract: Partnering can bring mutual benefit for client and contractor in construction industry. There are two types of partnering: project partnering and strategic partnering. Contractor selection is a decisive event for strategic partnering project success, but it is difficult for client select a suitable contractor to set up strategic partnership with tradition contractor selection method. In this paper, the factors of successful strategic partnering were analyzed, and eighteen indictors were selected through investigation and interview, furthermore four determinant factors in the strategic contractor selection were gotten base on the factor analysis method: cooperation willingness, compatibility and continuous learning ability, cooperation ability and flexible ability, which can be as a reference for client to select strategic partners correctly during procurement phase.

Abstract: Project planning is a creative and value-added process, and project decision planning is an important job before a real estate project gets approval. The paper analyses the concept and characteristics of real estate project decision planning, and discusses the idea of real estate project decision planning. Especially contents of the real estate project decision planning are deeply studied which include environmental investigation and analysis, project positioning planning, project definition and target planning, project economic and technology planning, organization and management planning of project .
