Abstract: The purpose of this work is to present an optimal design method for radar brackets to get the lightest structure with stiffness constraint. Current radar brackets usually have conservative strength and excessive weight which influences the mobility of radar greatly as they are not optimized in the conceptual design stage. In this paper the well-known ESO (Evolutionary Structural Optimization) method based on ANSYS is studied and used as the method to optimize them. To begin with the criteria of ESO method and its implementation method are studied. Then a case of optimization for a phased array radar bracket is studied and at last the optimization result is compared to the result by using WORKBENCH (a commercial CAE software) and the comparison shows that this method has its unique superiority.

Abstract: Many factors influence the wear of friction material performance such as formulation, manufacturing condition and operating regimes, and so on. In this paper, the wear rate variation has been modeled by means of artificial neural network, the network have been developed with all these relevant factors taking into consideration. 16 influence factors and wear rate selected as input and output respectly, 16 [10-8]2 1 is regarded as the best architecture of neural network, the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is used for training the network. The result shows that the model is valid to predict the wear property, as well as that it is useful for optimizing the formulation and manufacturing conditions, the relatively excellent combination of the ingredients and the appropriate manufacturing condition parameters can be obtained by this approach.

Abstract: The development of new product with low cost and reliable quality is one of important means to improve customer satisfaction and increase manufactures’ profits. It is necessary to identify the key factors affecting product defects and control them early in the new product development (NPD) process with defect prediction methods, because defect prediction can effectively avoid or lower testing and unnecessary rework costs. The author proposes a new product defect prediction approach on the basis of Bayesian Network theory for decision-making in the NPD process. The proposed approach makes use of Bayesian Network to simulate defects’ formation process, and it has a strong learning ability without requiring much data at the beginning of defect prediction. Product developers can easily predict the probability of defect occurrence of new products with this practical approach. The proposed product defect prediction approach can also help to focus on key factors influencing defects most. An example of turbine valve development is used to illustrate the proposed defect prediction approach. Also, recommendations for future research have been suggested.

Abstract: By analyzing the rheological behavior and stress to the metal in cross-axle during a radial extrusion with floating-die, establishing a computational model of rigid-perfectly plastic and the stressing model similar to the forward extrusion, and introducing a simple forward extrusion calculation into a complicated radial extrusion calculation, a new calculation for radial extrusion is proposed, then the axial clamping force on female-die and other load parameters are calculated. Through verifying the result by Deform-3D numerical simulation, the formula proposed in this paper is approved to be of a relatively small error and a high accuracy, which can be applied to various calculations of forward extrusion model.

Abstract: In the present study, we analyzed the origin of pressure fluctuation of ceramic filter during recoiling washing process and found that reducing such pressure fluctuation necessitates the use of an accumulator. From functions, types, volume to define the types of accumulators, and by employing the TT-12 type of ceramic filter machine as an example, according to known conditions and through calculation and analysis, we determined the air pressure and accumulator volume and chose the NXQA-16/10-L-A accumulator. With the use of this type of accumulator, we demonstrated that the pressure fluctuation was reduced to be within 0.02 MPa when the air pressure was 0.1 MPa, which satisfied the requirements for recoiling washing.

Abstract: The features of globalizing manufacture are national boundary has been broken and the production of enterprise boundary was also breakthrough. An information sharing system based on SQL Server and JAVA is proposed. Firstly, tasks and goals of the project are determined. The main contents of the cost model based on Microsoft Excel proposed by the American factory are analyzed. A new model is built by incorporating the cost of labor and transportation cost into the original cost model. Build of PC database and design of software are discussed in the paper.

Abstract: In this paper, according to the Chase tester and applying the innovative thinking, the principle of the friction material tester with adjustable speed and pressure has been presented, and the tester has been designed and manufactured at the base of the friction tester of constant speed. This paper illustrates the working principle, composing parts and structure parameter of the tester in detail. A lot of repeatability tests have been done, as a result, it is demonstrated that the structure design of the new tester is reasonable and the performance is up to the mustard absolutely. With the application of the new tester at the expanded working condition, it has not only the function of the constant speed tester, but also the Chase tester. The new means used in the friction material test has been offered by the new tester, which is original in the world.

Abstract: Reuse of existing design knowledge is the key to realize rapid product design. Analysis of present knowledge capture, representation and reuse method as well as study of static and dynamic knowledge capture method, the design template as a carrier for knowledge expression and reuse method is proposed. A typical instance for small agricultural machinery product is given to demonstrate the feasibility of the design approach.

Abstract: In the process of product creative design, we advanced the conception of Product Gene (PG) as a result of the thought of genetic engineering applied to product design. In this paper, an effective PG coding method is put forward based on the actual requirement of product information inheritance. Then a Function Surfaces (FS)→Parts→Products configuration system is established based on this coding method and the Object-Oriented technology is adopted to realize product information inheritance. Finally, the paper offers an example of the design of a spurgear to prove the feasibility of our method.
