Abstract: Property owners experience numerous problems during the process of self-building. If caution is not applied to problem-solving, construction quality can be affected and materials wasted. This study employed an online questionnaire and expert interview to examine various problems that property owners encounter during the process of self-building. The results of this study provide solutions that can be used as reference for future self-builders, thereby eliminating avoidable mistakes, ensuring construction quality, and achieving effective budget management.

Abstract: Engineering quantities calculation should be as a branch of program evaluation science. Four modernizations on engineering quantities calculation are computerization, simplification, normalization and modularization. Computerization instead of arithmetic simplifies quantity calculation. Normalization improves calculation speed on the preconditions of correctness and accuracy. Modularization ensures calculation integrity. The example illustrating the usage and accuracy of the four modernizations is given.

Abstract: Construction project scheduling is one of the most critical factors for project success measurement. Critical Path Method (CPM) is commonly used in the construction industry for project scheduling. CPM is a deterministic method that ignores uncertainties in activities through the network, which determines the duration of the projects. Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) is a probabilistic method based on the assumption that the duration of a single activity can be described by a probability density function. PERT takes into account the uncertainties during the construction process to plan, schedule and control complex projects with many uncertainties. The work reported in this paper describes the PERT work process to carry out the construction schedule risk assessment and illustrates the model through case studies. The utilization in the estimate the construction liquidated damage with the uncertainties is performed, which also can be used in the insurance company to calculate the insurance premium.

Abstract: This study used social network analysis (SNA) in order to analyze communication relationship between project team members in typical cases of Korean building constructions. Data was collected by conducting a survey from key members of construction project teams. We analyzed and digitized degree centrality by using Netminer, a SNA analysis program. According to the result of analysis in communication frequency, intermediate managers such as construction deputy managers were shown the highest and architectural designers were shown the lowest. With respect to communication credibility, construction managers were shown the highest and architectural designers were shown to be low. We discovered that intermediate managers and construction managers of the construction teams play important role in the communication of project teams.

Abstract: This paper, on the side of the sustainable development, made a further study of the competitive relationships among the subsystems of resource, environment, economy, and society in the complex system of coalmine construction project to find out how the system develops feasibly first by getting the order parameter in the system, then by measuring the order parameter via the sustainable development level and finally by probing the systematic trend of the coalmine construction project among the various competitive relationships of all subsystems under the theory of system dynamics, from the above of which this paper offers some help and guide in constructing and perfecting the value of the sustainable system of CCP.

Abstract: Green Mark, a certification for Green Building (GB), has become a compulsory requirement for all new buildings in Singapore. The aim of this study is to explore the controllable critical project management factors of Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) firms for delivering Green Mark certified projects and examine how these factors can be useful. Based on three case projects in Singapore, the factors influencing the success of GB were identified. It was also observed that the higher ratings of the building projects, the more management factors should be given proper attention. The research findings could assist project managers in managing the overall project performance and successfully implementing Green Mark certified projects more effectively.

Abstract: We attempt to study the participants behavioral risks of the complex project based on the theory of complexity analysis in this paper. First of all, through the review of literature we put forward the research contents of the complexity theory. Then, discuss the complexity characteristics of the project management; focus on the definition of the project complexity, the nonlinear characteristics of the project organization, the emergence and uncertainty characteristics of the complex project, etc. Finally, we point out that both from the perspective of theoretical research and project practice, the complexity analysis of project management has a positive significance.

Abstract: Coordination is not to be paid enough attention in project management at the present. The important role is emphasized for coordination in project management, and the internal and external coordination are expounded, full explanation that only through coordination, establishment the good relationship of cooperation, to make project management to step onto the healthy development road.

Abstract: A group decision making model based on supporting degrees of experts is proposed for selecting the best potential solution to the degradation of the Shiyang river basin. In order to balance the expectations of each expert, a weighted arithematic average based PROMETHEE method is employed to aggregate the opinions from different departments. The weights of experts are calculated by using the corresponding supporting degrees after experts presented their rankings of the alternatives instead of assigning them a priori weight subjectively.

Abstract: Since Lubuge hydropower station began to introduce the project management system, it has been greatly contributed to the efficiency of domestic hydropower project management. But the traditional and extensive management method is usually used at present. With the rapid development of computer technology, information technology, network and communications technology and their widely application in the information management for hydropower construcion, the information management process of hydropower project is significantly accelerated. From the gridding management theory in urban management system, based on the traditional management means, the concept and principle of gridding management theory is introduced and applied in the management for hydropower construcion, in which all items of hydropower project are worked as research subjects with the contract as a link so that the management level is more meticulous and the management objects are more precise. The whole spatial grid of hydropower construction is subdivided into a grid-based unit as the smallest unit and the method of full information is used to complete the refined management of grid units with their various attributes such as contract attribute, progress properties, investment properties, cost attributes, security attributes. The purpose is to achieve a refinement of construction management for hydropower project by means of grid-based meticulous management.
