Abstract: The analysis and modeling of road network capacity provides a useful measure for urban planning and traffic management. Therefore, the primary purpose of this research is to construct a novel approach of modeling the capacity of road network, based on the theory of space and time consumption. Based on the analysis of model parameters, a bi-level model is proposed to determine and optimize the capacity of road network Meanwhile, this paper elaborates on solution algorithm for its upper and lower level model. Taking the area of Ming Dynasty City Wall in Xi’an, China into account as a case study, the effectiveness of this proposed model is verified. The results presents that the model’s validity is verified. The results show that the main road network capacity in city wall of Ming Dynasty is 721883 pcu/d.

Abstract: In this paper, a nonlinear dynamical system is proposed to describe glycerol bioconversion to 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD) in continuous fermentation process. Some important properties of the system are then discussed. To maximize the concentration of 1,3-PD at the steady-state moment, an optimization model by taking the concentration of glycerol in the feed flow and the dilution rate as optimization variables is presented. Finally, an improved Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is developed to seek the optimal solution. Numerical results show that the concentration of 1,3-PD at the steady-state moment is increased considerably.

Abstract: This paper, based on an analysis of inherent features of scientific innovations through SUPER-SBM DEA model, constructs input and output index and conducts an empirical analysis on innovative efficiencies in industrial sectors in Shandong Province using the data from 2003 to 2008. Through the calculation of Super efficiency DEA value, the author points out that irrational structure of element input, low efficiency in the arrangement of scientific researchers and outlay use as well as the low efficiency of resource transformation are the restrictive factors that influence scientific innovative efficiency of industrial enterprises. The suggestions are finally put forward as follows: emphasis on structural adjustment of scientific innovative resources; cultivation and introduction of high-quality professionals; government’s promotion of innovative enterprises’ development, etc.

Abstract: The paper analyses hierarchical causality relationships of the coalmining systems; based on the causality loop of mining job quantity and quality, the sources of the risks of the systems, setup for the first time a dynamic risk evaluation model of the mining systems. It depicts that the principal causes for the mishaps in the coalmine is to chase an extra coal output while the quality of mining jobs remain insufficient. After successful running of the model in Vensim software under different scenarios, dataset of the occurrences of calamities due to variances of the quality of mining jobs are obtained and used to evaluate the degree of risks and safety of the coalmining system.

Abstract: With the security industry developing rapidly and the number of security systems increasing continuously in recent years, security systems provide a positive effect on society security in China, but many of them became vulnerable or even useless because of the problem of irrational allocation of resources. In order to evaluate security system efficiency to avoid these problems, we present the concept of efficiency entropy based on the Shannon information theory, and build an Efficiency Entropy Evaluation Model which can be used to evaluate the efficiency of the security system quantitatively. It represents security system effectiveness in single node layer and the entire security network layers. So the effectiveness of the whole security system is calculated quantitatively.

Abstract: As a safe, cost-effective, and easily accessible tool for gaining experience in surgery, the simulation-based surgical skill training has attracted more and more attention in modern hospitals and institutes. One of the most important advantages of virtual surgical training is affording useful instructional feedback to users. However, how to provide systemic and competitive surgical technique evaluation to trainees is still untouched. In this paper, for UK’s Royal Bournemouth Hospital virtual surgery system, we creatively constructed a surgical technique evaluation model which consists of static structure and dynamic process, as well as an index system which covers aspects of surgery performance.

Abstract: The line manager, playing a role to promote and implement the performance management system, is the key to system’s success. A line manager’s ability to manage performance determines the level of subordinates’ performance, and then influences the efficiency of performance management system. This paper first gave the definition of ability to manage performance for a line manager, and then according to the Gallup’s research, pointed out the competence characteristics for line managers’ abilities to manage performance, which involves communication capacity, encourage ability, authorizing and coaching capability. Line managers possessing higher level of abilities to manage performance can stimulate the performance potential of subordinates, enhance the work performance of subordinates, and then improve sector and organization performance.

Abstract: As for the problem that pitching mechanism can not pitch up easily at the beginning since the shotcrete robot often work in the lower voltage situation, this paper theoretically analyzes the causes that voltage shortage brings on pitching mechanism pitching up underload and verifies the maximum load working position with ADAMS simulation analysis. In the design of shotcrete robot the pitch cylinder hydraulic drive system is improved and it proves good in its practice.

Abstract: Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x semiconducting thin films with different buffer have been manufactured by direct current magnetic sputtering and annealing method, and their infrared thermal radialization respond have been studied. The microstructure of Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x film is analyzed by XRD and Raman spectrum. The electronic resistance temperature coefficient value and hall effect of Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x film are measured. The results show that the uniformity of the semiconducting Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x thin film which have buffer layer is better and their Signal-to-Noise is higher. It is believed that the Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x not only have good speciality for its thermal radiation respond in infrared band but also have good performance in sub-millimeter band. It will act as new sensor elements of infrared bolometer working at room temperature.
