Abstract: 15GB optical disk, or Next Generation Versatile Disk (NVD), is a new type of disk handling the high definition video in China. In this paper, its specifications are optimized for commercialize concerning about the tracking signal. Then a new specification with robust tracking signal and reasonable pit/track ratio is proposed for NVD.

Abstract: In the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, useful information about the incipient fault features in the measured signal is always corrupted by noise. Fortunately, the Kalman filtering technique can filter the noise effectively, and the impending system fault can be revealed to prevent the system from malfunction. This paper has discussed recent progress of the Kalman filters for the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis. A case study on the rolling bearing condition monitoring and fault diagnosis using Kalman filter and support vector machine (SVM) has been presented. The analysis result showed that the integration of the Kalman filter and SVM was feasible and reliable for the rolling bearing condition monitoring and fault diagnosis and the fault detection rate was over 96.5%.

Abstract: This research integrated finite element analysis (FEA) and optimum design to obtain a fast, accurate and automatic optimization system for the design of an ultrasonic horn. The optimization system was developed to achieve uniform amplitude distribution on the output surface of a block shaped horn for the ultrasonic plastic welding. Agreement between the experimental and numerical data proved that this optimization system was efficient in the design of ultrasonic horns.

Abstract: An orthogonal cutting model for investigating indentation type cutting of soft tissue was established, and the cutting force model was constructed theoretically based on fracture mechanics. A planar biological soft tissue cutting experimental setup was designed and developed to realize soft tissue cutting. Cutting experiments using orthogonal cutting blades were performed on fresh porcine liver at different cutting speeds. It was experimentally shown that the cutting speeds and the blade rake angles have significant effects on the penetration force and cutting force. Finally, a regression equation was obtained to explain the relationship among cutting force, cutting speed, and rake angle. These findings provide new insight into the biological soft tissue cutting.

Abstract: The Oxidation kinetics of Ti-48Al-2Nb-2Cr composites (TANC) with addition of different weight contents of CaF2 solid lubricant was evaluated. It is indicated that oxidation dynamic curve follow quasi-parabolic rate law under 800 °C. Once the temperature exceed 1100 °C, the oxidation dynamic curve seems to do not follow quasi-parabolic rate law. The contents of solid lubricant in TANC matrix occur an important influence for oxidation resistance

Abstract: For improving the performance of acorn starch (AS) based bio-adhesive, AS graft glycidyl methacrylate (AS-g-GMA) adhesive was prepared in this paper. The properties of the AS-g-GMA adhesive were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurement. The bonding strength of the plywood bonded by AS-g-GMA adhesive was measured according to Chinese National Standards methods to evaluate its water resistant. FTIR results indicated that GMA was grafted on the AS successfully. The bonding strength of the plywood bonded by AS-g-GMA adhesive showed lower curing temperature, better bonding strength, and water resistance comparing with that of control. The water resistant could reach type II grade (63°C water bath 3h) plywood requirement when the glycidyl methacrylate adding amount was 6% based on AS.

Abstract: Grinding wheel regenerator is composed of grinding wheel, fluidized bed, airblower, motor and dust-removal system. After being put into regenerator, used-sand is in the fluidized state under the action of airflow. Grinding wheel, buried into sand, rotates with high speed. During above process, strong collision and friction are caused between sand and high-speed rotating grinding wheel, machine body and sands, which make adhesive film peeled off and used-sand regenerated. The paper introduces operation principle of grinding wheel regenerator and studies experimentally about the influence of regenerator’s rotate speed on sand breakage rate. The study reveals that rotate speed has effect on breakage rate of reclaimed sand. Sand breakage rate increases with the raising of rotate speed.

Abstract: We present a comparative study on band-gap structures of Lamb waves propagating in one-dimensional periodic sequences thin plate, Fibonacci sequences thin plate, and the nesting Fibonacci superlattices thin plates with different generation numbers respectively. By comparing among TPS in different plates, it is found that Fibonacci model doesn’t present band gaps with generation numbers , , and . Band gaps occur and split in Fibonacci model when generation number increases to . But for the nesting Fibonacci superlattices with , more band gaps occur and band gaps become very flat. With generation numbers increase to , , and , more new band gaps present. It provides flexible choices for real engineering requirement.
